If I had a time machine, I’d hang out at Slaughter’s Coffee House in 18th century London and attempt to strike up a friendship with Thomas Chippendale. Personally, this would be most interesting to me if it was during the period when he was composing the first edition of his book, “The Gentleman and Cabinetmaker’s Director”. I’ve read a bit about him, but what struck me most was how similar his cabinetshop was to most shops today. The slings and arrows, the dream customers, defeats, victories and so forth. Plus ce change, plus c’est la meme chose. ---

John Candy - I think he’d be a blast to hang out with. Sure there are hundreds upon hundreds of historical figures it’d be interesting to meet, but he’s the one I’d pick.
