Shit, yeah 😉 See, I always calculate miles from KM’s by dividing by 1.609, so I figured: “It’s the other way 'round now, so I’ll have to divide 1 by 1.609 to get the correct conversion factor”. ## OR, if you’re not as mathematically challenged as I am, just MULTIPLY by 1.609 in the first place 🙂 Coldfire * * * “You know how complex women are” - Neil Peart, Rush (1993) ---

Over 110 mph in a Dodge Intrepid on a back-county road. Didn’t top it out though; I think the upper limit in that car is ~120-130. ---

135 mph in my mustang, 217 kph? 110 mph in pickup, 177kph. but keep in mind it was on a residential street in 30mph speed zone. with cars parked on both sides of street. stupid huh? ---

I recently sold my 1996 Volkswagen Passat (with the chip and a V6) to my brother - I’m sure he’s taken it faster than I did, but I got it up to 135 mp/h (217 km/h) on Route 80 - the steering wheel wasn’t even shaking. Got a hefty speeding ticket for it, too ($225 and some points). ---

As a driver, ~140 MPH (~225 KmH), in my first car - 1972 Olds Cutlass SS, 350 4bbl. The suspension was floating like a boat on rough seas. Scary. 230k (143mph) in a Volkswagen Passat on the Autobahn in Germany. Loved to go really fast when it was my turn to drive to lunch with the old farts I worked with, just to watch 'em squirm at having to sit there, not in control, and with a woman (GASP!) at the wheel. Did I mention it was a rental car?!?! Here in the USA, I’m too afraid of the speeding ticket (read insurance rate hike, esp. as I now live in NJ), so I haven’t taken my 911 over about 125mph. Would love to see what it can really do. Wish I still dated that judge! ---

I did 110 mph in a Volkswagon Rabbit in the middle of the night on I-70 near the Colorado/Utah border. As I topped a hill about 2 miles inside Colorado, I passed a car parked on the side which had some sort of structure on the roof. “Uh-oh,” I thought, “Busted!” In my rearview, I saw it pull out onto the highway. “S\*\*t!” I was petrified to brake, not only to confirm to the cop that I was going too fast, but because I might lose control. So, I coasted down to 55. The other car catches up to me a couple of minutes later. But instead of pulling me over, he passes. Then I see: it wasn’t a police light array on the car, but ski racks! I’d been scared by ski racks. “F\*\*k!” I haven’t gone nearly that fast since. ---
