Did anyone happen to catch this documentary on the Sundance channel? The gist of it is that there is a group of people out there who have a form of body dysmorphia that makes them NEED to cut off limbs. Like whole legs. It was just so strange…I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. Anyone out there know about this? ---

Do I get to be the first to mention Carole, the girl who wanted to become a double amputee so she could have TWIN DORRANCE #5X STAINLESS STEEL PROSTHETICS? She had a real disarming personality. ---

It was a few years ago that I found them, but there are websites dedicated to practitioners and fans of self-amputation and more extreme forms of body modification - i.e. beyond current mainstream-accepted piercings. I don’t recall seeing any pictures of people who had removed their entire arms or legs, but there were plenty of pictures of people who amputated their own fingers, toes, ears, breasts… And pictures chronicling the entire procedures. There were also examples of more extreme forms of piercings, as well as sub-dermal implants, ear and tongue splitting, and penis splitting. :eek: Scary, but I’m sure most of these people are nice folk if you get to know them - despite not being “all there”. 😃 Anyhoo…
