Last year, beginning of 2005, my boyfriend came down with his first cold in 6 years. More like an upper-respiratory infection, actually. It was a particularly bad one, but I resisted it. No less than a month later he either came down with another or had a relapse. I couldn’t fight this one and came down with it, breaking a 4-year record of my own.
Now he’s in the middle of another one, a year later. And I felt the first itchiness in my throat this afternoon.
I am irrationally pissed at: whoever gave it to me; at science for mapping the human genome but not figuring out the common cold cure yet (and I do understand why!); and at my own immune system for going so long healthy and then suddenly just giving in it seems.
I am ready to rebel. I’m not sure against what, or what I will do, but I’m ready. Who’s with me?

The cold to me is only an irritant when it’s not so bad that I can’t avoid going to work. When it’s BAD, and I get to stay home, under a blanky, with cats sprawled all over me, and have people waiting on me, then it’s not so bad.
But I only get those about every five years or so, and I’m overdue.

\ Yeah, I have one right now. I’m living on hot herbal tea and Jell-O, because that’s all that I can digest. I’d like to have my sinuses steam cleaned, but I’m not quite desperate enough to use a neti pot. I’ve never used one before, and I’m kind of wary about them.

I just polished off an entire box of Puffs Plus in 2 days. Top that.
My goal for 2006 is no more sickness! If I get another cold, sinus infection, etc., I want a sinus replacement and a complete new, updated immune system. My new insurance should cover this with minimal out of pocket.
With my unused sick days and vacation days (that I normally use as sick days), I’m going to some island with some hot latin lover. Ya, that’s it. A young one, yes, a young one that loves to rub my back.
Excuse me now, gotta blow again…

No,\*\* Mr Bus Guy\*\*, they don’t just irritate me. They \*offend \*me. What right does my body have to go betraying me like that? I take care of it, don’t I? Eat right, exercise, take my vitamins.
Staying home sick just means a waste of a perfectly good day I could have spent doing other things.

I’m still recovering from the cold I got while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas. I felt so sexy laying around the pool in my bathing suit with snot running out of my red nose. NOT!
I don’t think I had a cold at all this year. So of course I get on while I’m on vacation. Oh well, it didn’t slow me down too much. But now my boyfriend’s coming down with it and I get to take care of him rather than the other way 'round. Bummer!
BTW the tissues with the lotion are the only way to go when you have a cold. Accept no other.

I am recovering from a cold I caught from my mother the day we arrived back from New Zealand on a pre-Christmas holiday. New Years Eve accelerated it - it was stinking hot in Victoria, Oz and alternating between icy-cold airconditioned inside to a sweltering outside made it worse.
Just hoping I get all of it out of me before my wedding in 2 weeks!

Pneumonia.
8 days in bed, 3 of which were on my 5-day vacation in Denmark, one of which was spent on 3 different airplanes, through 2 cities beseiged by relentless snow, travelling 9,000 miles across 9 different time zones and my husband on a different plane.
I win.

I’m just now getting over the cold that hit me Christmas Eve, which I’m grateful didn’t turn into bronchitis: I don’t remember the last time I had anything worse than a cold, but there was a rash of “common cold morphs into bronchitis” going around the office and I had a nasty cough all week. I didn’t do a damn thing this weekend, and by yesterday I was mostly all better … just the nagging dry cough I’ll have to contend with for the next week or so. But my voice is finally back to normal, thank Apollo: for me, the worst part of being sick is always not being able to sing.

OK, I’m scraping up the winner’s prize package. I got half a box of Kleenex, 3 special 12 hour Sudafeds and, let’s see here… yes, a can of chicken broth. Man, these prizes suck, so sorry. Oh! I found a pretty candle.

My sister-in-law, much as I love her, brought her 8 month old son to the family Christmas. He had a viral conjunctivitis and an URTI.
Guess what I have now?

I would be in the bathroom, and I’d hope that you would be too. Or rather, I hope you’d be in a different bathroom. I’m camping out in MY bathroom for the duration.
Is anyone else lightheaded and confused? Because I sure am. I called my brother last evening and I’m sure he’s wondering if I am exhibiting the first stages of dementia.
All right, my tea’s ready. Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime. Very soothing, no caffeine, and the steam is very good for unclogging stuffed up heads.

Cold/Flu-free for 10+ years now at Kasa Kalhoun. We’re convinced we’ve been changed out by extraterrestrials and replaced by pod people.

Friday night my SO came home with a sniffle that quickly turned into a bad cold.
Yesterday morning Geekbaby woke up with sniffles and after a looong night of crankiness she seems to have a bad cold too. It’s her first illness, po’ baby. She fell asleep in the high chair a little while ago with one arm outstretched towards a piece of fruit.
When Geekteen was getting ready for bed last night she complained of a runny nose. I haven’t bothered to wake her up yet but I imagine she’s got it too.
Today I woke up with a scratchy throat and I just got over tonsillitis less than a month ago. I reeeeaaally don’t want to do this sick thing again!

I’ve never had the flu myself, even after being around my parents for a weekend when they had the flu badly.
