Would Brian Setzer qualify?
I thought Burt Reynolds would have a comeback after boogie nights but I was wrong.
Can John Travolta come back again?

would KISS count… they seemed to disappear for a while?
Carrey was the star of his own (short-lived) show in 1984, called “The Duck Factory”. He also was, at the time, probably the most promising young stand-up in the comic industry.
“Duck Factory” was seen at the time by some to be his “big break”, but it was canceled after a handful of episodes. Also, keep in mind that “In Living Color” was a modest, but not huge hit. Ace Ventura can be seen as his big breakthrough role, but certainly NOT his first appearance. I would make a stronger case for “Me, Myself and Irene” or “The Grinch” as being his comebacks, after the poor showings of “The Truman Show”, “Man on the Moon” and especially the dismal “The Cable Guy”.

The Truman Show was a Blockbuster and really the first movie I went to that most of the audience clapped at the end of. It was also Acclaimed. Are you sure you’re thinking of the right movie? I would hardly say it was a disappointment in the least.
Oh, and a GREAT movie imho.
My thought as well. Was part of the infamous Brat Pack of the 80s… became a nobody (except for the bad guy in Tommy Boy ;)), and then comes back wonderfully with ‘The West Wing’.

Oh, as for Carrey, The Truman Show was one of his most successful movies (loved it, btw), and Man on the Moon was his most critically acclaimed part (which was the point of taking it). I believe he won a Golden Globe for Best Actor for both. Truman Show was at least more successful than Me, Myself, and Irene or The Grinch.
I think Jessica Tandy deserves a nod. She made only one film between 1963 and 1981, then slowly and painstakingly worked her way back up to oscar status by 1990.
I’m hoping Van Halen has a comeback… They used to be so awesome in the old days.
Jesus.
Funny you should say that… I just heard on Howard Stern this morning that Sammy Hagar & David Lee Roth are going on tour TOGETHER to play some solo stuff, but mostly Van Halen songs. with the purpose of saying “up yours” to the Van Halen brothers. It’s funny. Van Halen kicked yet another singer out of the band, so they can’t tour at all, since they have no frontman…And now their two biggest frontmen are going on tour together and thumbing their noses at Van Halen.
They flipped a coin to see who would close the first show. Roth won, and he said he’s opening his set with Hot For Teacher.
Sammy and Dave are both going to be trying to blow the doors off each other, so it may end up being one of the greatest rock events ever.
I can’t wait. I can’t wait. I can’t wait.
I’ll vote for Christopher Lee. From a B-movie icon of the 60’s and 70’s, to acting in two decades of straight-to-video oblivion, and suddenly - major roles in three megabudget films within a twelve-month period. That’s got to count for something.
Frank Reich and the Buffalo Bills. Set an NFL record. Wish I could tell you more.
