I’m not exactly sure what you’ve observed, but I’d say its more like liberals are accused of anti americanism and conservatives are accused of being mean spirited or hating the poor or some such thing. I’m not sure I can see a conservative opposing some government action and being called patriotic for it. Except possibly by other conservatives, and surely that does not count.

IT’s partisan nonsense. It’s also nonsense written in the English language; it being nonsense isn’t necessarily connected to being partisan any more than it is connected to being written in English.
But, since you asked, there probably is a connection. Political partisans are nonsensical fools, and 99% of partisanship is utter nonsense.
Personally, I feel that the miserable subhuman savages of the other political persuasion are clearly vicious degenerates who are out to destroy humanity. As evidence, I submit the horrible things they say about people of my political persuasion.
And if you find that people of my political persuasion have said unkind things about those traitors to humanity, just remember that it cannot be mean-spirited to tell the truth.
The fact that you do not agree with me shall also be taken as proof that I am correct.

How can one take any meaningful interest in politics or public affairs without taking sides? Even if your interest is of a “single-issue” nature – e.g., you will support whichever party looks most likely to protect gun rights, or abortion rights – that still constitutes partisanship of a sort.
