On my second read of this thread, I too thought of @ultrafilter and @Indistinguishable and wish they would return. Also, Aussie posters @Cunctator and @Princhester (who did pop back in on being name-checked a couple of months ago. Enjoyed discussing football (soccer) with owlstretchingtime, Gorilla Man, One and Only Wanderers, and chowder - though the way the latter stopped posting suddenly, we feared the worst there. ---

Ooh look I get an email when my name is mentioned. Basically I am a master procrastinator. They say you are an alcoholic when your drinking starts to affect your work and family. By that metric I was an SDMB-aholic. By a very large margin. I had a difficult conversation with myself and decided I had to go cold turkey on this place. I’ve kept up my Charter Membership and I have this half baked thought I might come back when I retire. There are many posters, long gone, who shared thoughtful advice. This board has had many insightful people, a few entertaining jerks and a few trolls. There would be many names I don’t see often anymore: Racer72, Racinchikki, MattMcL, Lsura, Ultrafilter… there are dozens of others. I used to like Handy but many undiplomatic people have been banned. The guy very strongly against circumcision, inserting it into any possible argument, I forget his name, but made me chuckle. ---
