If they stick to the nostalgic/reunion type bands…I believe Bachman Turner Overdrive is back together and are releasing a new album this year followed by a tour. I think now that they’ve exhausted the 60’s dinosaurs, they should probably move on to slightly more current arena acts. By “more current,” I mean maybe move from the 60’s and 70’s into the 80’s and 90’s. AC/DC could do a kick ass show. Some others that would be safe, play familiar hits and not need walkers yet: John Cougar Mellencamp Aerosmith Bon Jovi REM Green Day ---

Let the host city’s local high school marching band play. Viewership at halftime can’t be worth all the money spent on booking elaborate stage shows, can it? ---

The halftime show is not about putting on a rocking, edgey, or awesome show. The NFL, networks, and sponsors all want something that is family friendly for a live performance before the biggest audience the network is likely to draw all year, but will also keep the over 30 crowd in front of the TV to see more commercials. In the Superbowl thread in the game room, I suggested Jimmy Buffet for next year. He’s well known to us geezers, still touring (I think), and reasonably “safe” for the venue. ---

Being apparently the only person who was utterly baffled by the catchphrase “WHO DAT?” (and the fact that nobody seemed to find it the least bit problematic), for next time I suggest a halftime show featuring the “Jolsonettes” performing “My Mammy” in blackface. ---

The AC/DC suggestion upthread was great. But, I think they will use the Texas location for next years game to go country. Probably go with Taylor Swift & Rascal Flatts, plus someone older to keep the 30+ crowd watching. ---
