I swear to you - when I was a spotty teenager and I read magazines I used to see edits such as “[this isn’t true - ed]” and think there was a member of the team called edward, and he’d be kind of a boss so he was allowed to make comments or corrections in the articles of his staff. I sort of knew that ‘ed’ meant ‘edit’ or ‘editor’ but until I actually thought about it with my brain switched on I would think there’s an ‘edward’ employed at most magazines who’s nickname was ‘ed’. Have you ever had a silly misunderstanding about something like that? ---

Reminds me of how when I first started taking piano lessons at age 10, I once commented to my mom that this “Anon” guy seemed to have been a really prolific composer, because half the songs in my book were by him. He even wrote “London Bridge Is Falling Down” AND “Frere Jacques”! Duh me. ---

There’s a town in northern Wisconsin that must be very important, because when I was a kid I noticed that every town we drove through on the way to Grandma’s house had signs pointing to it: **Business Dist ----\>** But somehow we never got to Business Dist itself. If you ever find out where it is, please let me know. ---

I remember asking my mother if we had any of Anon’s works in our plethra of 8 tracks (alas, that was chockful of Loretta Young and Johnny Cash) and her looking at me like I was crazy. I then got the talk about modern devil worshipping musicians. Later, when I tried whispering the question to my dad, she got all tuned up again. Dad finally figured out what I was asking about, and the both of them had a great laugh. Fast forward to when I was 16/17 and one year for Christmas, I got a chidren’s song tape from my father with a note about people “singing Anon’s works.” It’s still one of his favorite stories. ---
