The venerable and kids will likely be the most effected by another Trump presidency. I’m just saying that that’s what motivates me to, at very least, vote for someone who can ‘possibly’ right the ship, rather than risk the livelihood’s and the lives of others. I still don’t understand what people plan to do during, and after, a Trump’s presidency? Other than “fight”? What are you and other’s going to do to mitigate Trumps absurd ego rulings?

January 20, 2025, at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC. Trump shits his pants and is inaugurated to be the next President of The United States…

January 21, 2025, Go…!

…

Anything? If you did have a list of ways to lessen the damage Trump almost outright SAYS he’s going to do, Who do you plan to work with and organize with after that? I dislike Biden quite a bit, I get it. Not just for being out of touch, not just some of his policies, but I feel pretty yucky about “having to” vote for the dude after this recent mess!!

If you DO have a plan in place after Trump’s rule for changing the system, or whatever, what’s stopping the people who are voting elsewhere or not voting at all, in trying to implement these changes while at least enjoying the right’s to our own bods? Better prescription drug prices? Not having to have our children to pray before class? He’s even much less disgusting to look at compared to Trump, though I’m bias.

I don’t get it.

As long as you’re not bothered by things like pregnant women suffering and dying due to restrictive laws on abortion (and similar occurrences), then I get what you’re saying.

The people I’d most blame are the “Trump is bad but I can’t vote for Biden” crowd. Democracy isn’t a consumer product, the candidate isn’t a brand competing for your business. They are presenting 2 visions for the country and your duty is to choose who you sincerely believe is the better of 2. If you believe Trump is horrible but you then fail to support his competitor, you have utterly failed in your civic duty.

Who’s to blame? Well, I’m putting at least some of the blame on these idiots:

The Covid vaccine makers. Covid was a huge societal issue in late 2020. I’ve read opinions that Trump probably would have won in 2020 if the Covid pandemic hadn’t occurred. Now Covid is a background issue that attracts little news. So if the demographics of 2016 and 2020 are consistent with 2024 (admittedly a big “if”), then not having Covid as a swing issue will be the cause of Trump’s election success.

> Sure, politicians lie, but at the end of the day, it’s the voters who believe those lies. And when the lies are as blatant as they are in the case of Trump and the modern Republican Party, it’s the ignorant voters accepting those obvious lies that are the ultimate problem. Biden could force every American to watch his speeches _A Clockwork Orange_ Style, and some of them would still believe the obvious Trump lies. There’s not much anyone can do to fix that. You can’t force someone to believe something they don’t want to believe.

My impression of what you’re saying, to put it into consumer sales terms, is that you believe that Biden is the superior product, but a Trump win would be because of better brand loyalty and better advertising. If that’s the case, the blame for Biden’s failure should go to his sales team - his campaign and the Democratic Party leadership. You shouldn’t blame consumers for a marketing failure. Either the product was inadequate, or the marketing was.

Covid was a fucking gift. All Trump needed to do was act like a leader and he wins in a walkover. Instead, he acted (like he always does) as if every anti-Covid measure taken anywhere was a personal attack, and an effort to make him lose the election.

This. If Trump had just STFU and let the experts do their jobs he would have emerged as a hero. But for some reason, authoritarian populists don’t like experts.

> If you think the core problem is an electorate too skeptical of candidate’s claim that his opponent is bad, then you’re missing the mark.

The _Republicans_ are telling voters that the _Republicans_ are poison. They are openly stating that they want to destroy democracy, that Trump will be a dictator “on day 1”, that they intend to abuse their power to persecute their political opponents and hurt anyone not in line with their ideology, that they disdain law and order and the Constitution, and that they will willingly support Russia over the US. And their followers are fine with that.

It has oft been noted that you cannot reason someone out of a position they have not reasoned themselves into. Trump and the GOP brand clearly say “poison” on the label, and it is not the fault of the Democrats that so many drink it anyway because they think the Flavor-Aid Orangeman mascot is funny.

Let’s not stray into comic-book villain “It’s your fault for not stopping me” logic. Despite popular narratives to the contrary, it is not the Democrats’ fault that people still support the GOP.
