thats a sight for sore eyes…ive missed ya rousseau! what have you been up to lately? met someone who agrees with you? well, i hope you do someday, for it will be a day of joy (please note that this isnt sarcasm!) do you people never stop troll hunting? or for the same matter, trolling? or has this continuous troll hunting bred a new species of trolls? intelligent ones. the trolls who are trolling without anyone accually knowing about it. i do not advertize myself as a troll expert so i can not provide examples. so perhaps you, who are experts on the matter, can give us, the others, an analysis on the given subject? bj0rn - oh yeah…rousseau is my favorite rousseau! ---

I submit there is a difference between “trolling” and “being a troll.” I think everyone, at some point, could be accused of trolling, for fun or for profit, but that does not necessarily make them a troll. Seems to me it has more to do with consistent or constant behavior rather than just a few isolated posts. MHO, of course. That’s true… I had quite the trolling going with that ‘what the hell is wrong with you damn americans’ thing in the pit, and i don’t think anyone called me on it, though it did get about 50 posts. ---

Yea I know, thats what the PIT is for. I just wish they could stay on subject. I get all worked up reading everyones post with their differing points of view, and then someone goes off on a personal vendetta that has nothing to do with the original post. If CB is worried about TomNDeb being a hermorphodite then he should start his own thread on the subject “Why I resort to name calling when someone disagrees with me” ---

I would also note that, while I prefer that even in the Pit we maintain the standards of the Straight Dope by avoiding ignorance, it can not be said that I have never baited anyone, here. I simply prefer to bait ignorance and stupidity with facts and logic rather than obscenities, profanity, vulgarisms, and name-calling. I think it gives me an edge when battling buffoons like **John John** to make them foam at the mouth while I am keeping my cool. I am certainly flaming them and I would be dishonest to claim otherwise. I think I’m having more fun, however. * * * Tom~ ---

That’s been my strategy for a long while, with such notables as the Phaed, Cyb, some of the more rabid Pound Puppies, and to a lesser extent folks like Pashley, Freedom, and CB.
