Whose a Clavoiant here, and If so Help me out?

Or did he mean “skeptical”?

Anything else or are you taking the piss?

I’m not sure if Winston Smith is joking with you or not, but Ryan, this is so incredibly generalized and vague that it could apply to half the people here. It is spot on for myself, as a matter of fact.

  1. Who doesn’t know someone who is sick or going through a tough time? Especially these days.

  2. A trip where you fly? Considering you are in the U.K. - an island - pretty much any trip you take is going to involve flying. And what does it mean, “water figures prominently”? That you are going to drink it? Jump in it? Go to somewhere near a lake?

  3. Most everyone is sad about something. They don’t like their job, their cat died, the girlfriend dumped them, money problems, etc.

.

It looks like Ryan has missed The Thread of DoomTM.

Incidentally, Ryan, you might want to try to get Lekatt’s attention if you are serious about this.

Don’t get all snippy with me just because you fear what you can’t understand. You’re the one that wanted to dance with the Devil.

And yes, there is more.

Wow! Is there a prize we could award Ryan for “Least comprehensible English language post by a native English speaker”, or some such?

Wait! I’m having a vision…the OP is a scam! It’s those darn monkeys that are supposed to be reproducing the complete works of William Shakespeare. They’re posing as Ryan!

I wasn’t snippy with you! Sorry winston if it looked that way.

I’m sure he did. I was being sarcastic.

Get it?

:wally

That’s better.

I sense you are having a disagreement with someone very close to you. There are many unresolved issues circulating around a central theme which you are clinging to, although you are beginning to doubt the position you have taken.

Pride will not permit you to relent, and this will remain the source of your discontent.

*Ryan, he’s joking with you. Joking. J-O-K-I-N-G. You know, ha ha ha ha ha ha?

::sigh:: There are no such things as clairvoyants, kid. They’re all scammers. Go to the website linked above (www.randi.org) and start reading. Then read some more. Look up any of the big words you don’t know.

Again, there are no such things as clairvoyants. None. There is no ESP, no PK, no communication with the dead, no telemetry, no ‘psychic photography’, no aliens, ghosts, Bigfeet, Loch Ness Monsters, Easter bunnies, fairies, or anything else you may have heard about from friends/schoolmates/late night radio. Sorry. I’m sure you’ll find millions and millions of people all over the world who’d just love to debate this with you. Sadly, most of them just want your money.

Are you still maybe a little confused? I thought you might be. Here’s what Winston did. You can do it, too- anyone can! It’s called ‘cold-reading’, and the whole trick is to say utterly vague things that could apply to anyone at all. Watch me amaze you:

“Hmm, now, Ryan_Liam, I’m sensing a few things about you right now. Yes, yes, it’s coming through very clearly. You’ve been having some problems lately, haven’t you? I’m seeing some trouble here, nothing too bad, but still, something you’re uncomfortable about. Schoolwork is really piling up, your parents expect quite a bit from you, and you’re stressed out, aren’t you? You’re stressed out. And your friends aren’t helping much, are they? And that special someone, that someone you’ve been looking for, well, she’s hasn’t turned up, yet, has she? Don’t worry- she’s just around the next corner. I’m definitely seeing a relationship for you within the next six months to a year. Don’t worry. This person will not be your soulmate, however. Sorry. But she will teach you some valuable lessons about life and love. It will be an overall positive experience. Now, also, I’m sensing some illness nearby- a friend or relative, someone older than you, about whom you’re worried, right? Someone close to you? Well this close person really needs your love and support right now. It will also help you to help them. Okay, now, I’m getting a message form the other side. It’s coming through, crossing the spiritual barrier- I’m sensing an older person, okay, an older male, someone who was close to you, but passed away within the past five to ten years. Yes, definitely an older male, I’m getting the letter ‘G’, here, also the letter ‘R’, and a number, ‘12’. Does this mean anything to you? Possibly an initial, even of a nickname? And the number, this is a date? A day or month? Reversed? Ring any bells with you?”

That, Ryan, was a cold-reading. I have no skills, no training, and no information about you whatsoever. But everything I just said could apply to about half of the people on this message board. And you want to believe what I’m saying, that I know things, so you believe it. And then I take your money. And that’s how they get ya. Try it yourself. Impress your friends.

I’m sorry Gazelle, there were several words in there that required a doubletake so I guess I just whooshed myself.
Don’t mind me… I’m just here for the cookies.

Ha-ha! That ratty! What a card!

Forget him, Ryan.

And ratty, I think the collective membership of the Church of the Sungenius would take offense to you’re assertion that their common ancesters are imaginary.

Rattys a her, and I don’t particulary like that poster, but thats another post entirely.

Well, in that case, I take it all back.

Gives lieu a cookie.

Being skeptical is good! But being objective, scientific, and consistent is better.

Skeptic says: There is no such thing as Clairvoyance, because when I ask anyone to demonstrate it to me they cannot. Oh and the scientists havn’t found any sign of it yet.
Scientist says: Lots of people have claimed to have experience of Clairvoyance. Most of these people can be shown to be sain and reasonable. ergo we have a phenominon which needs testing. The scientist goes out and tests the most promising cases of Clairvoyance, and tests the theories of what it might be. After much testing it is found that “Clairvoyance the unexplained power” can be shown to be either incredably rare or non-existant, “Clairvoyance the dillusin of the supposedly clairvoyant person” is fairly common and not particularly harmful, “Clairvoyance the money making scam” is even more common and harms the people echonomicaly who make use of the Clairvoyant.

Please look if you can get hold of the books by Prof John G Taylor
called Physics of the Paranormal. This book shows how a brilliant physicist examines several apparently paranormal events, and how they are sistamatically shown to be completely normal. He does however conclude that there was no explanation at all for spontanious human combustion. Interstingly even spontanious human combustion can now be explained through new research into what is called the wick effect.

Cheers, Bippy

heh heh heh

Maybe, but good ol’ WB still has to hold the record for thread titles with: Would Are Eco Sytem be Ok If We Extincted Mosquitos?

Damn hamsters must be in cahoots with the groundhog. What’d they DO with my post?

Let’s try this, again…

Yep. You’re right. Not even close.

And, can I nominate Ratty for an Honorable Mention in the “What the heck were you trying to achieve?” coding category?

I had a swimming coach who could see into the future. Her name was Claire Buoyant.
