Why _are_ today's GOP so daft?

E.g. http://www.infowars.com/senator-rand-paul-on-ndaa-sopa-indefinite-detention-of-american-citizens/

Of course. Because she’s the only one who could have possibly said it.

Name some others, dipshit. Name even one other.

You can’t.

Unless it’s “Oh, yeah, my uncle Herman said it. He was in the bathroom, peeing when I walked past the open bathroom door. And he was definitely talking about Bush…”

You got a fact wrong. You got busted on it. Not so bad. Until you made it worse by defending yourself. It’s never the crime, but the cover-up, that really sinks you.

Nixon found that out. Or was it Bush, I forget…

This is a good example of negative advertising. Why should I even take the time to visit a website whose followers spam kooky, nonsensical bumper stickers all over the place?

I need to provide evidence that the GOP sometimes says something that isn’t stupid, eh? Not the job of the OP to support his own assertion? I’m the one mindlessly blasting away, huh? In a thread that leads with begging the question? You understand that concept? The OP offers as a given that which he needs to establish, then we all gleefully provide theories for why the unproven assertion must be true. Sorry, it’s not my job to refute an argument that has not yet been made. I don’t do so in response to Rush Limbaugh bloviating either.

Sorry, this is still pretty funny.

Timeline:
– Someone quoted in the OP asks if there are examples of non-daft GOP quotes
– You say “what a horrible thing to say! Stop being such a poopyhead!”
– I say “nothing stopping you from fighting ignorance here”
– You say “ah, so you AGREE with the Tooth!” (I don’t see where you got that from, but still.)
– I say “no, but if you want to disprove him, it should be pretty easy”
– You say "no! He needs to disprove his assertion by LOOKING AT EVERYTHING THE GOP HAS EVER SAID (which is what it would take to “support his own assertion”)

I agree that it’s pretty funny, but not necessarily in the same way you do.

Pfft. Facts.

Since when has Terr let facts get in the way of anything?

Apparently you think you know a lot about debating, but this post shows that you don’t.

The topic of a debate is considered “resolved”, and it really is the opposing side’s job to refute it. So far all you’ve done is whine.

“When you come to a fork in the road, take it” - *Calvin Coolidge
*
Oh, like Yogi Berra’s the only one who could have said it!

Because she owns that and no one after her said it again. Of course.

No-one famous in any capacity whatsoever said it after her. I am asserting this as fact. You can dismiss me, but unless you provide a name, you will also have to acknowledge that you are doing so withut reason.

You’re really bad at this, aren’t you? The fact that someone asked that question was silly enough. The fact that the OP offered it as a given is what made this particular thread one of many in the long parade of idiotic partisan shrillness that is becoming the hallmark of this board.

It’s not my job to refute an argument that has not yet been made. It’s the OP’s job to establish his argument, not to offer it as a given, but let me help you here–it’s impossible in this particular instance. He is basing his theories on an assertion that is absolute and without qualification. You see any problem with that? “So-and-so has never, ever done anything that wasn’t vile and stupid” is a ridiculous assertion, one that can be dismissed on its face. Is that point outside your capacity to understand?

Anyone that thinks this requires refutation is an idiot. “If the posts here are so nonsensical, it should be easy enough to refute them” is a moronic rejoinder in this instance, an indication that one is part of the throng so immersed in a fog of partisanship that basic logic seems to be beyond him. That throng would NOT be everyone on the left (or right), just those who demonize their opposition to a cartoonish degree, firm in their belief that they are correct, and absolutely correct, in that assessment.

And you making up an asinine and inaccurate summary of what occurred in the exchange here won’t change that, and it won’t stop anyone from reading the thread and seeing you’re making shit up.

Wow! Sounds to me like most of the people writing these posts really have some serious issues with people who they don’t agree with. Not that I agree with any of the people you all are bashing here, but I do consider myself to be conservative which according to most of you would lable me as a republican. And also a F@#* this and stupid that and dim-witted self-serving piece of monkey sh#. Even though you know nothing about me or what I am about. Bill Maher calls himself a democrat so should I sit here and rant and rave about how all democrats are a bunch of sexist aholes? come on now! I"m just a man who loves my family, works hard, and tries to help other people when I can. But since most would call me a republican I guess really I am just some worthless F’d up, retarted slack aed cu dumpster. Boy I really learned a lot about myself today… thanks everyone!

Why does it have to be “famous”? It’s a “meme”. It pops up here and there, all the time. Want examples?

In a standard debate (there’s actually lots of different kinds, and differing rules, but this is typical), there is a normative statement, and there is an affirmative team and a negative team. The debate is won by whomever makes the better argument; where you get that the topic is consider resolved, I don’t know. The normative statement is never something like “X never, ever occurs,” where X is an assertion like the one made in the OP, an unqualified, absolute subjective statement, because the debate will be really, really short, and it is predictable how it will turn out and who will win.

The reason a request for a refutation here is moronic is not because it’s difficult–it’s exceedingly easy. It’s moronic in the very asking, given the assertion being made.

So, you’re wrong as well.

Yeah, like I said, dipshit, you can cite your uncle Herman, peeing.

No, moron, I can give you URLs to people using that meme (some quite seriously) in discussions on the web.

I don’t know the first thing about you. But you’re not doing very well at establishing your reasonable cred.

So these people fucked up in the same stupid way you did–big shit. A stupid fuckup cites other stupid fuckups to prove his point? what a shocker!

No, idiot. Those people use the meme. Without attribution. I bet most don’t even know or care whether it was said by someone “famous” before them. Kael doesn’t have a copyright on it, wasn’t the first who said it and wasn’t the last one.
