Why are all porn actors referred to as "stars"?

I always figured they were talking about the * kind of star, since it fits in with the recurring themes. Or, you know, vice versa.

There’s no money for men in porn unless they either get behind the camera or go gay.

If you get a chance, listen to the *Rialto Report *podcast series. I’ve listened to the entire series (77 episodes!) and they are almost all fascinating. There was only one performer I wouldn’t want to know - Jeff Stryker, the “gay for pay” guy who just seemed to be a monumental creep. Link spoilered due to nudity on the page:

There haven’t been fluffers in decades, and then only on the most high-budget movies, or attempts to set a record by having sex with the greatest number of partners. Listening through the Rialto Report, professionals were expected to get themselves ready, and offer to assist their co-stars.

I watched a couple this evening. Great interviews.

I’m glad they are saving these former performers stories and memories in podcasts.

Jamie Gillis died recently. They interviewed him just in time.

Probably the same reason all WWE rasslers are “superstars”

Something like:

Why?

Are you imagining your great-great-great-great grandchildren learning about them in school? (Other than the semester discussing Stormy Daniels and the fall of a president)

Way back in the day when porn was shot on film and had something of a plot, my parents had a friend who had a non-participatory (as she put it) part in a porno production. She was a mother who sold her daughter into white slavery.

Not aceplace57, but from my POV, same as I’d like someone to document others from “fringe” classes – because these are people, they have/had lives and voices, and documenting people other than the poweful or admired can always be worthwhile.

She was in the film The 40 Year Old Virgin, when Steve Carell’s character tries masturbating to her film Space Nuts. “Hi Andy. I’m going to talk dirty to you. I’m going to have lots of sexy…sex with you. I want to touch your big fat…”
