As someone upthread mentioned in general, the film\* I, Robot\* has absolutely nothing to do with Asimov’s novel.

They may have kept the Laws of Robotics, I quit paying attention early on. 🙂

> I think you don’t know enough about comics - _IM3_ takes large parts from the Extremis story arc in the comics.

It was a bad example maybe, but the point still stands. Even using “large parts” of a comic “arc” generally doesn’t mean they deliberately adapted it.

I dunno, then, I clearly just do not grok what the difference is between an adaptation and not. To me, _IM3_ adapts the _Extremis_ story to fit into the existing MU. If you ask me “What is the basis for Iron Man 3’s story?” I would say “Extremis” without hesitation. So I don’t understand the distinction you, or **Chuck** , or others, seem to want to make between “filming” a work and “adapting” it - it’s like, I wouldn’t expect a _The Stars My Destination_ movie to incorporate everything from the novel (certainly not the raping) or use the exact same Inner System vs Outer Colonies setting. All I want is my Teleporting Tattooed Count of Monte Cristo movie, damn it!
