It was a bad example maybe, but the point still stands. Even using “large parts” of a comic “arc” generally doesn’t mean they deliberately adapted it.
I dunno, then, I clearly just do not grok what the difference is between an adaptation and not. To me, IM3 adapts the Extremis story to fit into the existing MU. If you ask me “What is the basis for Iron Man 3’s story?” I would say “Extremis” without hesitation. So I don’t understand the distinction you, or Chuck, or others, seem to want to make between “filming” a work and “adapting” it - it’s like, I wouldn’t expect a The Stars My Destination movie to incorporate everything from the novel (certainly not the raping) or use the exact same Inner System vs Outer Colonies setting. All I want is my Teleporting Tattooed Count of Monte Cristo movie, damn it!
