Thanks for that link. It seems reasonable at first…so I checked on the 2020 election thread there… Some liberals putting up a good fight, using reason and the facts as are known. Pretty ugly pileons tho. Use the Supreme Court as a reference and “hes a troll!!” ---

The pit has existed for decades and has been used by some of you for decades in order to slander others. Stop acting as if people responding to the assholes that have used the pit to attack 100s over decades of time are the bad guys and gals. It’s almost as farcical as asking for a cite. ---

Yes, of course. Equality of outcome. Not across ALL demographics, but certainly across all demographics as large as racial groups. What else could equity possibly mean? If you picked two groups of ten million random Americans, the sample size would virtually ensure that they would be nearly identical in terms of average income, educational level, life expectancy, and other demographic statistics. However, if you contrasted groups of ten million white and black Americans, you would find that the whites were far wealthier and better educated, while the blacks were much more likely to have served time in prison and had shorter life expectancies. If you start from the assumption that race is completely irrelevant and that all people are unique individuals, how can you possibly explain this other than as a function of institutional and structural racism? Every other possible explanation is racist, in that it assumes black people are in some way objectively inferior. For example, conservatives often try to blame it on “gang culture”, teenage single mothers, obscene rap music, whatever. Translation: black people are more likely to make unwise sexual choices and glorify violent criminals than white people are. It’s the assertion of racial inferiority disguising itself with “race-neutral” language. So, if we observe that equality of outcome is not happening, we know that structural racism must be the reason and we need to be working on that. How will we know that we don’t need to worry about racism anymore? When equality of outcome is observed. Bizarrely, conservatives claim that the people noticing and pointing out the structural racism are being racists, and that the truly “anti-racist” position is to assert that we live in a “color-blind” society, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. ---

Nobody denies there are actual biological differences between men and women; they’ll never going to have the same average muscle mass or be equally likely to get pregnant. But most people do deny there are significant biological differences (other than skin tone) between racial groups. So the analogy fails. ---
