Conservatives are so credulous because at the moment liberals are mostly embarassed by their loonies and quietly feed them scraps without making much of a fuss, whereas there a great deal more uniformity, solidarity and pride amongst the ‘religious right’-wing loonies and so they demand more attention and get media coverage. I also personally believe that religion acclimatizes people to fall into self-reinforcing confirmation bias loops in other things as well, but I haven’t the numbers to back that up, and besides that a rather large percentage of liberals are theists too.
