I’m guessing the Central Texas Poles get overshadowed by their Czech neighbors as far as culture and recognition are concerned; Bremond is right in the midst of the Czech area in Central Texas.
But yeah, small towns like that are much more likely to have retained a lot of that culture and language than big cities.
Tell me about it. Tonight the Uke Lady and I took out her old Chicago friend to a place called Freek’s Mill on Nevins and Union.
Nine tiny plates of basic roasted vegetables with twee accompaniments, and a bottle plus two glasses of white wine. Oh, wait…there was some duck and some salmon and some oysters. The oyster I got was good.
$230 before tip. Plus, Ukulele Lady is FURIOUS at me because I didn’t tuck into the pumpkin or the kohlrabi or the raw scallops like a ravenou beast.
