Why are ICE agents masked, and why is it allowed? Why don’t they appear to wear proper uniforms? Is this how they appeared before Trump or is this a new thing? From my outside perspective, I’m quite shocked that they don’t seem to present proper authority in their actions by their dress and masking. They could be anyone! There was an “anti-mask” opinion piece in today’s paper that did not suggest any reason other than this. Also said they at times lack any badges or ID. Possibly to prevent reprisals/doxxing? Personally, I consider it inappropriate. Like so much being done these days. ---

It’s 100% this. It’s like the bad guys in lots of video games or movies. They jump out of a van, no ID showing, no uniform, masked up, and grab someone off the street. How does that person have any idea they’re not being kidnapped? ---

The scary part of that is that it means any random civilian can put on some dark clothes, a mask, a sidearm (2A) and to really make it look official, stick some zip ties/riot cuffs in their back pocket and start grabbing people off the street. I think it is also an intentional refutation of due process. Not only can LEOs do whatever they deem necessary - without cause, warrants, etc. But they don’t even need to identify themselves. Like said above - fascist intimidation. ---

I have to wonder how many of those participating in the raids are legitimately law enforcement officers to begin with. I mean, what’s to stop DHS from grabbing Proud Boys or Oath Keepers who had been drummed out of law enforcement and giving them a jacket with ICE written on the back. And, how would we ever know? ---

ICE agents currently need to meet only one requirement- they must be loyal to Trump above all else. ---

Why are we still calling them ICE or Federal agents? If they are wearing masks, they are literally secret police. ---
