I was actually lying about that. (That we use such a program). \

There really is such a program, and it allowed a scholar to analyze the poem “The Night Before Christmas” and conclude that Clement Moore did NOT come up with that poem, but rather stole it from another author.

Here are some links if you wish to investigate

> Donald Wayne Foster (born 1950) is a retired professor of English at Vassar College in New York. He is known for his work dealing with various issues of Shakespearean authorship through textual analysis. He has also applied these techniques in attempting to uncover mysterious authors of some high-profile contemporary texts. As several of these were in the context of criminal investigations, Foster was sometimes labeled a "forensic linguist". He has been inactive in this arena, however, since Cond...

> Clement Clarke Moore (July 15, 1779 – July 10, 1863) was an American writer, scholar and real estate developer. He is best known as author of the Christmas poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas", which first named each of Santa Claus's reindeer. Moore was Professor of Oriental and Greek Literature, as well as Divinity and Biblical Learning, at the General Theological Seminary of the Protestant Episcopal Church, in New York City. The seminary was developed on land donated by Moore and it continues on ...

Almost certainly, Moore didn’t originate it.

My apologies for blowing your story 😉 and thanks for the link. I am familiar with that incident and with the technology. I was just curious about its use here. I understand the process is not perfectly automated, so it would have shown some really determined desire to uncover socks that don’t make it as easy as the one we are seeing right now.

Oh, for God sake, he’s about four names in this thread alone. Why the fuck isn’t he being Banned like he is supposed to be??

_I_ damn certain find the whole thing annoying when someone feels like they have to play games with the system. Boot them out on their arses post haste; if they feel like playing the game, let them; if they obtain some small sense of satisfaction from goofing the system, so be it.

It was my call, actually. I had an obviously mistaken idea of trying to reason with him. I’ll close this one now and take out the garbage.
