Nah. Rogue Administrator.
Kinky!
I keep expecting Graham Chapman, dressed in a British Army Major’s uniform, to declare this thread closed because it’s silly.
More to the point, why has the OP got such an extrordinarily high user number, considering that he/she is a '99er?
I was quite sure I would look to the right and see a join date within the last few weeks if not days but…
Was actually a 99er, left the boards for quite some time, came back years later and couldn’t remember password or email of old account, we merged the new name and they decided to keep the new name which had a higher member number,
The OP had no posts between 04-12-2001 at 11:08 AM and 11-15-2011 at 02:37 PM. What was he/she doing during those ten or so years? Is there a dungeon where posters who violate some unwritten rule are locked up? If so, how did he/she escape?
Yeah, sure, samclem, if that’s your story, stick to it.
That sounds like you need a way to ban them without them knowing. Too bad y’all can’t install mods.
Are you saying that Fran Allison was a sock puppet? Damn, she looked like a live woman to me, but I guess someone had their hand up her ass.
Could you repeat that, sir?
And here I am without so much as a warning. Somehow I suddenly feel like a slacker who need to go call someone a dickwad or something.

You ban sock puppets? How dare you ban Kookla, Fran and Ollie. Meanies.
[/QUOTE]If Kookla didn’t want to get banned, he shouldn’t have spammed the boards with his neo-Nazi manifesto.
What it does show is the wrongness of saving up old warning from years and years and applying them to banning. This isnt done so much now, but they still save a warning forever, cradling it and saying “my preccioussss” over it.
It used to be that any prolific poster was nearly certain to be banned- we all make mistakes, the mistakes are held against you forever, and then when you have a bad day and go off the rails- BAM- banning. (“look at these warnings- two from today, one for two years ago, another from 4 years before that, etc- this clearly shows a pattern of antisocial behavior!”). What it actually shows is a pretty normal poster who does need a “time out”, not a banning.
They tried wiring Manhattan into the matrix. That… really didn’t end well.
It doesn’t show anything of the like. In the first place, most posters–prolific or not–don’t have any warnings; let alone have they been banned. In the second place, when considering warnings for banning purposes, warnings from years ago carry little if any weight.
Your assertions are incorrect, therefore, so is your conclusion.
This is completely wrong. I’m sure you know it, since we’ve explained it to you many many times before. There’s never been a banning in the history of the board that fits this description, or anything close to it. And we have many posters who have been prolific for many years without a single warning.
DrDeth, the only person who particularly cares that you received a warning over a year ago is you. The only reason anyone is particularly aware of it, including the mods, is that you keep bringing it up and harping on it. If you would rather other people not know about it, then you shouldn’t keep bringing it up yourself.
Isn’t there an option on some board software packages to give you a “silent” banning, where you can post, but everyone else can’t see any of your posts? The troll/sock/asshole in question then can pontificate (unknowingly) forever unto the void (and in most cases I doubt they would ever notice).
Backing up Frank and Colibri: this is entirely unlike the way it works. I’ve been a mod for 2 years now (and a fraction) and not once has such occurred. It’s true that we look at a history of warnings, but I’ve never seen anything past six to twelve month brought up. It’s just silly to continue asserting that such is the case and you should stop it.
Hell, look at the number of prolific posters who have been around for 10+ years who haven’t been banned. By your assumption we should all be kicked out by now. Somehow, amazingly against the odds, we continue to post.
Before the explanation, I was thinking undercover sleeper reverse sock puppet that had just been activated.
