If you want to know what is wrong with the police is this country, try reading some gun forums.
www.glocktalk.com 's cop talk forum is filled with such ignorance, hatred, stupidity, and all around unbelievable shit, that I get nervous walking by cops anymore.
What is the general cause IMO, little fucks that want power, and seeing that most anyone can become a cop with a gun, it is an easy way to attain it.
Maybe we should hold lotteries for the general public to become our police force?
I had a bruise once that caused $500 in medical bills (it was large and got infected). So yes, while bruises are often seen as minor injuries, I can see legitimacy of medical treatment (plus how else do you insure that it’s only a bruise?)
A local police agency was trying out their new tasers, and some high school students offered to be zapped. The ijiots did it.
(and yes, the ‘retard’ in the title was ill conceived).
Firstly, that news article looks as if we’re not getting the full story somehow. Does anyone know more?
OTOH, assuming its accurate, it definately implies the students didn’t know they’d get paintballed. Were they wearing eye protection? Is it assault if you paintball someone when they’re not expecting it?
I’m sure all the ‘hostages’ will get over it, but if that is what happened the police were very wrong.
Hey, I don’t give a flying fuck if you do diagnose your own medical needs – carry on, by all means.
But you have no idea what the extent of the injury was to these students, some of whom were shot repeatedly at a closer range than the single hit you received.
All in all, I thought you were shooting your big fat macho mouth off about a subject you are largely ignorant of – it turns out I was right.
Plus, you know, if you want to sue someone for pain/distress/injury it just might be a good idea to have some facts documented.
Everyone involved should have had regulation eye protection, since a large portion of serious paintball injuries deal with vision loss.
The Rexburg police department were definately wrong in using civilians for their drill. I hope, at the very least, the muzzle velocity of the guns they were using had been lowered to a minimum.
It’s become kind of a sport in the Dallas area for teenagers to drive around, find someone jogging or biking, and blast them with a paintball gun. Being part of Dallas’ EMS system, I have seen some dime sized injuries where the skin was completely taken off, and this was through one layer of clothing.
I’d ask why in the flying FUCK they were conducting a hostage situation drill at a school?..I graduated in 1998 and I never had a hostage situation drill.
Here, contact the Mississippi Police Academy at Camp Shelby. Call your local police department or academy and ask if they need volunteers. The academy here is always desparate for people willing to participate, just because it can take most of a day and isn’t paid. It’s fun, though.
Columbine wasn’t until 1999. Hostage and lockdown drills are becoming fairly widespread. Even in my itty bitty high school, we were subjected to lockdown drills in which every student had to seek cover in the room in a way that wouldn’t be visible from the door. Cops and administrators ran up and down the halls, banging on the doors. If a teacher opened the door in response to the banging, they were disciplined for not following procedure (teachers weren’t supposed to open the doors for anyone).
Later that year, the total pointlessness of the system was proved when a bunch of seniors armed with water guns successfully “attacked” students and teachers who were standing out in the open courtyard during the daily morning break.
