You persisted in mischaracterizing that post over the course of three pages, going to extraordinary lengths attempting to prove the point that was not even based in fact, to the point where you were interupting your own thread with that off-topic discussion. After you were called on your error, twice, you still went out of your way to post multiple times playing semantic games in an attempt to cover your butt. If that is what you portray as “slightly misread” and “corrected” I am afraid to see what you consider forthright honesty. I am hardly going to bother “acknowledging” your version of an event when it bears so little relationship to what happened.
At any rate, anyone who wishes may read over the thread and see what really happened.
Right on target Tom. You just issued a warning to me for misrepresenting videos when I specifically said the videos were training videos. You accused me of representing them as research. Now you have told me not to link from my site even though the links are not my writings or material. The videos are on the net for everyone to see, but I can’t link to them stored on my site. Now unless you extend that same rule to everyone on the board you could be violating my civil rights by your prejudice against my site. I have no idea why you are so afraid of knowledge found anywhere on the internet. You are also implying the posters on this board are not intelligent enough to make up their own mind about the material treating them as if they were children that needed to be protected. Does moderating on this board included controlling what is said and discussed. If this board doesn’t want opposing material to atheistism and skepticism then it should be in the rules for everyone, not just a few.
I for one feel that Poptech has been treated shamefully on this messageboard and would not blame him one bit if he left and never came back. It would serve us right.
I know people like this in real life too. They begin to think something (often irrationally) and then go on and on and on about it until people finally do get pissed and then that “validates” their arguments.
It’s like
“The mods here lie and are corrupt.”
“No, they aren’t”
“Yes, they are”
“No, they aren’t”
“Yes, they are”
“No, they aren’t”
“Yes, they are”
“No, they aren’t”
“Yes, they are”
“No, they aren’t”
“Yes, they are” user eventually gets banned for all the complaining
“SEE? I TOLD YOU THEY WERE!!! THEY JUST BANNED ME!!”
I’d suggest coming back, PopTech, when you have something more than a little “Wahh, they moved my topic!” along with various made-up points.
You actually said they were “teaching videos that explain the laws of quantum mechanics” and “quantum teaching videos.”
The exchange at issue went this way:
You said “Science materialism will never show the existence of non-corporal existenses, so you will never believe. However Quantum Mechanics is pointing the way to non-corporal existences right now, and will no doubt become more popular in the future.”
You were asked for a citation.
You linked to the videos and said one was about “Spiritual Oneness of all things.” and the other showed “All is consciousness.” You said later that the videos were made “by qualified people.”
You were asked what laws of quantum mechanics were explained in the videos.
You said “You will just have to view them to find out.” After that you refused to explain what you felt the videos explained, and later you linked to the Wikipedia entry on quantum mechanics.
I think this makes it pretty clear that you were saying the videos were scientific research. You said they showed that quantum mechanics is providing evidence for spiritual oneness, you said the videos were made by qualified people, and you said they explained laws of quantum mechanics.
If Poptech is being so ill-treated, why hasn’t he been banned? (Not that I’m suggesting it.) Heck, once I was banned from a board for mentioning faggots in a discussion about English food – even though I explained what they are. Does Poptech think he could get away with arguing with moderators at other boards?
Poptech: It is being demonstrated that you are being treated with much tolerance. I’ve only read a few posts in the other thread, because I’m not really interested in that debate. But I read enough to conclude that you are a True Believer. The problem with that is that here we like to deal with facts. It is incumbent upon each of us to back up our assertions with reputable citations. If the citations are called into question, we must support them with other (reputable) research.
There’s nothing wrong with admitting error. I like to think that when I post, I post good information. But I’ve been shown to be wrong on many occasions. Then I post ‘I stand corrected.’ That’s what this place is about: fighting ignorance. If I’m wrong and am called on it, then I’ve learned something.
That said, there are things that are not provable one way or another. Maybe ‘Spiritual Oneness’ is linked to quantum physics, and maybe it isn’t. But without repeatable, verifiable experiments, research, and data, it’s a matter of Faith. There are many here who have Faith. But Faith is not something that can be proved – especially be someone who is not a theologian or scientist. I suggest you relax.
I was not saying any such thing. Posting a video does not imply it is research, which anyone could tell by watching them. I don’t know where one can find research on quantum mechanics. It is only by manipulating and twisting and assuming things not said that you arrive at such nonsense.
Here’s what tomndebb actually said when he moderated your posts:
He did not use the word research or say you implied it is research. He said you claimed it addressed a scientific issue, which you definitely did. I should have used the same wording, but I simplified it to “research.” The issue is not that you claimed the videos were research as if they were published and peer-reviewed. It’s that you have been told many, many times not to link to your blog, and that you are not to state that you’re addressing scientific issues when you aren’t. You violated those rules by linking to videos on your blog, and by making the statements I quoted, which clearly were supposed to pass off these videos as legit science.
I remember way back in, oh, I’d say aught-two or so, I actively campaigned, nay, begged to become a moderator, just falling short of officially applying.
Now, I would like to officially thank the powers that be for not paying me any attention whatsoever. I think I’d rather be a spooge-cleaner in the Combat Zone than a moderator on the Innerwebs.
Being a moderator here is like herding cats. Retarded cats. Who bite you. And pee on you. And just when you think you’ve got them all wrangled, they vomit on your face and complain about the smell.
If we dare to disagree with your unsubstantiated claims or correct your constant misuse of common words and phrases, we are discriminating against your religious beliefs?
Smeghead-you are wrong. This is the funniest thing written this week.
Quantum mechanics are a scientific issue in anybody’s language. Why am I not allowed to post from my blog where I have stored information on quantum mechanics that are no different than that material found elsewhere on the Internet. Why is my site being discriminated against and not all other poster’s sites. Why would I not be able to say I am linking to scientific issues such as quantum mechanics when linking to my site, but allowed to do so when linking to some other site. Your logic is irrational and nonsense, it is clearly discrimination against me and my site for no rational reason. However it is normal for the prejudical mods that control the information on this board. Censoring material they believe the posters here will not be able to judge for themselves because of whatever reason thought up by the mods. You are clearly wrong.
