# Why are The Straight Dope Message Boards so S...L...O...W?

I am on a BroadBand connection (Road Runner) and other websites now come on in a flash. These still creep along, frequently timing out to the “Page Cannot Be Displayed” from IE. Is it because of very heavy traffic, an inadequate server or ?

Heavy traffic, people doing mass searches, Moderator actions (such as moving misplaced threads)…

It’s mainly caused by people asking this same damned question over and over and over. In the wrong forum too.

Well yeah. Okay, if I had just gone to the About These Message Boards board, I would have seen all the answers. But no. What did I do? I wasted everyone’s time and space. Oh dirty, dirty me. I’m disgusted with myself.
