# Why are we concerned with plastic straws?

I find it interesting that China, which was the major producer of plastic straws and other single-use plastic wares, banned restaurants and stores from offering them. [The pollution](https://www.geoaffairs.com/yangtze-river-pollution/) was getting out of hand.
