Why Aren't 'Birthers' Hysterical About Ted Cruz Too?

Under the law at the time of Obama’s birth, his mother’s age would factor into it as she wasn’t old enough to meet the residency requirements to pass along citizenship to her son. A court would probably be needed to settle the matter of interpreting the law as to whether he was a natural born citizen.

It’s moot since he was born in Hawaii but if he had been born overseas it would be a legitimate question.

I would add:

  1. The Framers would not have intended to discourage citizens from entering the U.S. military or diplomatic service, or furthering U.S. commercial interests abroad, by making any of their children born abroad ineligible to serve as President.

In a broader sense, this is it. The Republican spin machine got the right wing nutters all aflutter about Obama, and so far it hasn’t targeted Cruz. That’s not to say it won’t, but at the moment he’s not considered enough of a threat to waste time or money on.

Again, baloney.

Cruz has admitted he was born in Canada! There’s no hysteria because there’s no possibility of a coverup. If Cruz were CLAIMING he’d been born in Texas but wouldn’t show any documentation, there MIGHT be an outcry in some circles.

But everybody KNOWS he wasn’t born in the USA. So, there’s nothing for anybody to get worked up about.

I think the origins of the birther movement were purely racist, with a side order of “he’s a Democrat.” Because some in the movement feel the need to get rid of any cognitive dissonance by being consistent about it, they will apply the same standards to Cruz. And they are doing so.

But I don’t think it was ever the Republican establishment that was fueling it. Winking at it, sure. But fueling it? I don’t think so.

Cool. So Hillary Clinton suuporters are racists and hates Democrats? Because, you know, they were the ones who actually started the “theory” and ran with it for the better part of a year before Republicans picked up on it (and granted, took it to all new levels).

I have no idea why you think what you are saying is somehow a gotcha on me. But okay, I’ve been got!

Oh, really? What did Obama lie about regarding his birth that people got all upset about?

And why aren’t they worked up about the true fact that Cruz IS NOT a natual-born US Citizen (or is arguably no more so then Obama), yet wants to be president?

Birthers are hysterical about Ted Cruz.

It’s just that those who are repeatedly questioning Ted Cruz’s birth certificate do not realize that they are now the birthers.

The people who argued that Obama needed to have two citizen (or two NBC citizen parents) are generally saying the same thing about Cruz. There are a few “if you can’t beat 'em, join 'em” hypocrites. But for that segment that believes the “two parent” argument, they are opposed to Cruz, Rubio, and Santorum.

But this was never the majority of the birthers.

This is exactly why the birthers packed up and went home when Obama released his birth certificate on June 13, 2008.
