Why aren't cars with "sovereign citizen" plates summarily impounded and drivers charged?

The contract wouldn’t be enforceable because Ohio didn’t ratify it in 1916.

That’s how those nut jobs think.

Oh, it would be enforced. With physical force, probably. Which just goes back to why laws are a better way to govern.

Kind of a chilly Lord of the Flies scenario? Or feeding time for the polar bears? See how long they survive without being able to sponge off of the social contract they claim to spurn.

Exactly. Just to be an ass-hat, I’d put a good, paved road in the zone because that’s the one thing they ever claim to use in our country.

Just make sure the road just only in a closed loop, with no connection to what’s outside the fence. I’m thinking fencing sorta like on Jurassic Park, but with a mesh scaled for humans, and better IT workers.

And moar voltage; lots moar voltage.

Do we have to give them a gas station, too?

FWIW, for the car to get pulled over, it requires that a) it is noticed by a police person, b) that patroller has the time / interest in pursuing it, and c) is willing to do a high speed chase because the SC asshole likely will not see the need to comply with The Establishment’s flunkies.

Plus, we have no idea whether that car was pulled over later, or had already been pulled over.

For what it’s worth, looking at that photo, the license plate looks kind of fake / photoshopped.

Or a rural Escape from New York?

So, do the SCs stop at red lights, drive on the correct side of the road, and obey other traffic rules? If so, then they have created joinder with their straw person and are now subject to the rules of commerce in an admiralty court.

And that’s using THEIR logic. So they can’t weasel-word it away.

But they don’t do those things because they are backed by laws they obey.

They do those things because the rest of the sheeple do and if they hope to arrive without a collision, they need to follow mostly along.

Or so they’ll tell you. There is no point in trying to out-logic a Calvinball player. Whether it’s some random yayhoo SovCit or the criminal in chief.

Part of the problem is with cops that engage with them adding validity to their viewpoint (in their minds). However that does lead to real gems like the only cop I’ve seen who knew what the right to travel is (which is not a right of non-citizens so SovIdiot checkmate themselves right there) but to your point one Sov said he does not contract with the state and the cop told him, “You did when you used a public road.”

This is what pisses me off. I rarely see a judge even try to explain the RtoT beyond saying it’s not the SovCit thinks it is.
Not that it would do any good.

And like I mentioned above.
“I am not a citizen.”
“The right to travel is only guarantied to American citizens under the Constitution so if you are not a citizen, you have no right to travel.”
I’d love to hear how a sovcit responds to that.

That would be entertaining. My version would probably be even more so:

SovCit: I am not a citizen.
LEO: Under US executive order 2025-234 all law enforcement is directed to arrest on sight any and all non-citizens lacking immigration papers.
LEO: STEP OUT OF THE CAR. NOW!
SovCit: (to themselves) Oops.

The sticker included a serial number back in the day. If you paid for it 3 months early on a newly purchased vehicle, you could escape 3 months of registration and insurance, I assume was the thinking of the folks in some provinces. (BC for example included insurance in the registration, so 3 months not a small sum.)

Wrong part of the Constitution

No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States;

The right to travel is considered a privilege/immunity. So rather than a positive law like your cite, it prevents a law from punishing people. Saenz is the landmark case in this.

Arguing with a Sovereign Citizen is counterproductive. Most of them are complete morons. Maybe the guy who wrote the website they get their information from is smart enough to outsmart but not the random guy who follows it. They believe in the Magic Word Defense. They only have to say the right magic words or put the right magic words on their car and it will get them out of anything. Your logical argument is not more powerful than their magic words. There is no explaining that will help.
