Who says they’re not scared? Part of it may be that we’re not in the right circles or watching/viewing the right media to see what’s going on in that segment. Beyond that, I think a lot of people still identify as Republicans, not Trumpers, but because of the propaganda and bullshit, really believe that the Democrats are bent on enabling every thing they think is wrong- homosexuality, sloth/laziness (i.e. welfare/social programs/UHC), lawbreaking (the general view in that set would be that Eric Garner/George Floyd/Alton Sterling should have obeyed the cops/law in the first place). And to make it worse, want to spend public tax dollars to enable this behavior / educate about it in schools. Or they focus in on small aspects of the Democratic platform that make it harder on small businesses- various forms of regulation and reporting, or restrictions, etc… So to them, it’s a literal threat to their way of life. It’s not always racist; I get a lot of my Republican/Trumper thinking from my cousin, who oddly enough, is NOT racist at all. But not being racist is less of a concern to him than protecting his business/keeping it healthy, and keeping the country the way he thinks it should be. So he votes Republican, waves Trump flags, etc… Because to this crowd, who I suspect is the largest set of Trump supporters, Trump is their best hope- he’s obnoxious, he’s combative, he doesn’t negotiate, etc… and is bent on sticking it to the “libs”. Which is what they want, even if if means they have to put up with Trump and the fallout of his and McConnell’s antidemocratic practices. But I have a feeling they’re at least a little frightened, if they’re not safely ensconced in a total right-wing news bubble. ---

Ah, the right-wing rationale: it’s fine to destroy the country as long as it upsets liberals. I mean, right-wing terrorism is by far the current greatest security threat to the country, Republican politicians right up to the White House are encouraging violence by their followers, and the Republicans are engaged in every means, fair and foul, to undermine the integrity of the election. But at least they’re not wearing pink hats, so it’s a draw, I guess. ---
