# Why aren't my Yahoo emails forwarded to gmail?

I’m just curious if anyone has any experience with this. I’m trying to switch to gmail, and so I’ve added my yahoo account to my gmail account. All of my old emails have been imported, but my new emails do not show up, EXCEPT when I send an email from my gmail account to my yahoo account. When I do that, it shows up with the proper color label and everything.

I’ve forwarded my work email to my gmail account too, and works wonderfully. For a while, I just figured I had misunderstood what gmail could do, and that it just wasn’t possible to receive new Yahoo emails in my gmail account. But the other day I was talking to a friend who said she receives all of her new Yahoo emails in gmail and has been for a while. Am I doing something wrong?

Your friend probably has Yahoo Premium.

I don’t think plain Yahoo mail does forwards for you.

Gmail will log into your Yahoo account and pull new email off the server. I believe Gmail requires POP access to your Yahoo account.
