> I used to swear by Old Navy jeans, but then they changed the fit. They made the top part longer (even on the “ultra low rise” or whatever), decided to put a whole lot of room in the crotch (because we women need that?), and made the legs a whole lot longer.

I noticed the legs being longer in at least one style of jean at Old Navy. I bought a pair of one particular style (size 4S, when I’m usually a 6, yay!) about 7 months ago. When I went back to get another pair about 3 months ago, also in a 4S, they were about an inch longer than they should have been. I even compared a similar style in a 4S to the one I wanted to buy and they were an inch shorter! I really liked them, too. Oh well. I still love ya anyway, Old Navy. 😉

> Oh yeah, that’s what they do alright. My mom has a theory, that the fashion industry really hates women, I mean Deep Down, mysogonistic “nice guy” hatred. And so, they design clothing that will make us look as horrible as possible.

> Now, that’s just my mom’s theory, and she’s joking, but sometimes it seems to be true.

Heh, It’ as good as any other theory.

> Yup, being an “monroe” in this day and age, is NO fun at all. This is why I sew. You can make the styles you like, and tailor them to suit.

MOst of my clothes hide my shape, for various reasons. Mostly because trying to show it invloves yards of fabric being twisted, tightened and overall bunched together.

ANd I have NO ability in sewing. I can’t even sew a button or a patch on properly.

The sizing isn’t the only problem though, the hideous clunky boxy styles are so ugly too.[/qoute]

I went shopping with a couple of my friends. THey all thought it would be a piece of cake getting clothes for me. But really, when it’s my hips holding up the skirt/jeans and the top bit just kinda floats around my waist, it’s not attractive.

> When my daughter got married, my mom and I had a HORRIBLE time finding mom of the bride, and grandma of the bride dresses. I finally ended up with a lovely outfit of separates, but it cost me 300 bucks. ☹

Dresses are usually a bit easier for me to find than pantsuits but I haven’t bought anything formal in years, so who knows.
