Is it a restriction in Tapatalk or a limitation in how this board supports the connection? I find my self double posting to add a sentence or two that I forgot. Or to clarify something. Stuff I’d normally fix by editing. It’s very, very frustrating for me and people reading the threads. Disjointed posts aren’t fun to read. ---

Its only the sdmb in TT. We can edit on the Giraffe boards and the OOTP boards. ---

Go to the Web View of the post and you can edit from there. Not the most elegant way to do things but better than your quadruple posting. ---

Clicking a link to this board in a Web browser launches Tapatalk. The link is associated to that App. Maybe, if we live long enough, they’ll update this board. ---

Right after you post and then try to edit, no edit option shows up. But if you refresh the thread by swiping all the way to the top and then go back down to your post, the edit option appears. ---

What does the edit option look like? I can’t find it. Swiping up doesn’t seem to do anything. I can refresh from the menu. I’ve done that and looked for an edit option. ---

Just edited a post!!! Refreshed and saw the Pencil icon. Thank you so much. Life without editing was miserable. The trick is refresh, then press on your post. The Pencil icon magically appears. ---

Tap on your own post and you get a series of options, including “quote” and, if you’re still in the edit window, “edit.” ---

We really need a Tapatalk sticky somewhere on this board. Getting the Editing option to work is not intuitive at all. But it’s easy after learning the trick. ---

If you click on the 3 dots on the top right corner of a thread in Tapatalk one of the options is “web view” which when clicked takes you to the web view of the thread. From there you can edit (no longer needed, I see) and also vote in polls. ---

Depends on the version of Tapatalk. The one on my Winphone does not need the reload-thread-to-see-edit trick. The Edit option shows up in the pop-up menu instantly when you submit a post. I refuse to install Tapatalk on my Android because it has no \*legit \*need for access to my location or my contacts. Sorry spyware; you don’t run on my boxes. ---

The other issue is quote tags. I haven’t found a way to create them in Tapatalk. I finally saved the quote tags in a email. Open the email, copy and paste the tags here. Then paste the text I want to quote. It’s a PITA but it works. ---

If you have Marshmallow, you can turn off individual permissions of apps. And you can see exactly what the apps are looking at and using for each permission. It saves multiple things to the clipboard and lets you choose which one to use. The free version only let’s you keep 20, but the paid version is unlimited and syncs across your devices. And you can create categories to organize the clippings. One of the best apps I’ve ever paid for. ---

As to whether any given app will work after you remove some of its desired permissions, well … we shall see. Shame it takes wiki to convert “Marshmallow” (after I realized that was an OS version name and not a 3rd party app) into an actual version number as displayed on my device. Not that that’s your fault in any way. To save somebody else the trouble, “Marshmallow” is v6.0.x first released in late 2015. ---

I have the phone permission turned off on Tapatalk and have no problem using it. I would guess the location wouldn’t really do anything to mess with usage either. The contacts permission says it wants to know about accounts on your phone, which it might need to find the actual Tapatalk account. It doesn’t access your actual contacts list, which would show up on the list of it did. Sorry, I never considered people not knowing what Marshmallow was. Too much of an Android geek. 🙂
