Why conservatives can't get what they want

I don’t give a rats behind if others feel the way I do.

But let me reiterate:
*I don’t believe JM will energize the core base enough to get the nomination
*If he get’s the nomination I don’t believe he can win
*If he succeeds in either or both he will do it without my vote.

I don’t like John McCain & I don’t need to justify every little reason why I don’t, nor convince you that I’m not alone in my disdain of him.

Let’s just wait until '08 and see what we will see.

Finally, the OP is answered!

They did – for themselves. That’s where you got suckered.

My rule-of-thumb is, unless you’re making over $1 million/year, voting Republican is the political equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot.

Yup. I’ve been saying for years that the Republicans are the party of “millionaires, fundamentalists, and suckers”. It’s a great way to kick off political discussions at parties!

Although lately, after seeing how little the fundamentalists have got in return for their support for the Republican party, I think I need to revise it to just “millionaires and suckers”.

Quite true. Unfortunately, we have a lot of voters who care more about their “values” than their economic interests.

Regarding that – and what to do about it – check out Foxes in the Henhouse: How the Republicans Stole the South and the Heartland and What the Democrats Must Do to Run 'Em Out, by Steve Jarding and Dave Saunders. It’s awesome!

Here it is:    I would love to see Rick Santorum get the Pub nomination in 2008!
