During the holidays, when the office is closed, husbands are at loose ends and will agree to anything to get out. While wives have always had more taste for shopping (ask any retailer) and more excuse to do so with all the sales going on. ---

I accompany my wife shopping because she needs a “no” man. I’ve talked her out of many a purchase that she shouldn’t have made and later thanked me for. ---

OK Blondie readers, casual though you may be, explain me this strip from many years ago (not that the date matters much I suppose): Blondie sends Dagwood to the corner store to buy milk and bread or some such. Dagwood repeats to himself, “milk and bread, milk and bread,” on the way. Partway there, he sees a hot young thing having a Marilyn moment - her skirt is being blown upwards and she’s trying to hold it down. When Dagwood gets to the store, he asks the shopkeeper for a pound of butter and a can of peas. Obviously he was distracted by the spectacle, but is there some significance to the items he asked for at the store? My nefarious teenage mind immediately seized upon a probable use for the butter (not recommended by the way), but I couldn’t figure out the peas. ---

Well it is a _can_ of peas. Beyond that I’d have to consider Dagwood was into water sports…and to be honest I’ve shocked he was thinking about cans and butter and pounding :eek: . ---
