I suppose I did. How’s about you link a few for me?

Here’s a Newsweek reference to Prime Minister Cheney. [Link.](http://www.newsweek.com/id/57101)

In any case, there’s ample talk out there about the power of Cheney in the Administration, even if he isn’t called Prime Minister.

I’d love to see you show this statement to be anything other than just your opinion.

I’m sorry. I didn’t realize we could no longer express our opinions on this board without first documenting them. My bad.

I found this curious and looked it up, it turns out that this is not true.

I mis-remembered, it seems. (Hence the IIRC preface to my remarks.)

Only if you’re going to state it as fact.

This article is from February/March of 2001, is primarily a summary of how the VP office has evolved since 1792, and ends with

> [@](#):
>
> Dick Cheney is likely to build on the pattern established by his predecessors, carving out an even greater role for his office as he goes. Indeed, Cheney’s future may be a case of the man and the office finding each other.

I fail to see how this establishes Cheney as the “Prime Minister” of anything.

Indeed there is a reference to him as Prime Minister Cheney on the second page, but this article doesn’t prove what I think you think it does.

I have no doubt that Cheney has attempted to expand the powers of the office of Vice President, just as has virtually every VP before him (as referenced in your first cite). However, your quick Google search for “Prime Minister Cheney” has failed to convince me of, well, anything.

Thanks for all the great explanations, everyone. At the time all of this was being discussed, I was too young and out of the loop to be aware of it. I barely even knew who Howard Dean was last election, and I got to _vote_ in that one.

Needless to say, I’m considerably more educated than before, and The Dope has been a big part of that.
