You mean “Double Stuff” Oreoes? They better not have discontinued Double Stuff Oreoes. Surely there’s enough potheads out there to keep sales err… high.

Hey, wait a minute…could this be part of Ashcrofts war on marijuana? First bongs, now snack foods…what’ll it be next, a ban on Comedy Central?

A. 7 UP Gold was produced in 1988. Unfortunately, we were unable to grow a national following for the brand, and it was discontinued in less than a year. "

It’s still around, Ive seen at least the 20 oz. ones at CVS–it must’ve been a marketing gimmick to get people to at least try it. (I admit to being suckered in–I love that stuff & gave up my usual Coke for it).

No, no…Double Stuf Oreos are normal oreos with more filling (presumably twice as much as normal…), where as Big Stuf Oreos were of a much larger diameter than your standard Oreo.

Sometimes products are thrown into the market to defend a market segment that doesn’t exist yet, to scare others from creating it themselves and forcing a new ad battle and fight for new customers . When interest by competitors fades, the product that no on ever wanted to support in the first place is pulled and cancelled. Some products would have a life if advertised and supported internally. Often, office politics come into play.

Damn hamsters…

My daughter makes Sweet Spots – basically Toll House cookies without the chocolate bits, and you press a Hershey’s Kiss into the top of each cookie immediately after they come out of the oven. These are very good, and unusual enough to be popular at bake sales and school events.

1-2-3 Jello

You had to whirr it all up in the blender, and as it cooled it formed a bottom jello layer, a top frothy layer, and a middle layer that was a kind of creamy jello that’s impossible to explain but heaven to taste. I found a case of it at the local Big Lots about eight years ago and bought it all. The packages were labeled in Japanese, but it tasted just the same. It’s all gone now though. ☹

And I remember the golden Hawiian Punch too…Mmmmmmm!

The Big Stuf Oreos were sold (If I remember right) either individually or in a box of six or something. (I remember getting some for a slumber party treat.) They were about four inches in diameter and had close to an inch of filling in the middle. I suspect they were taken off the market because that comes out to about a cup of lard/shortening per serving and the surgeon general said “you have GOT to be kidding me!” You were probably equally likely to have a heart attack as go into a sugar coma from eating one, and MAN would one hit the spot right about now! 😃

When the site [topsecretrecipes.com](http://topsecretrecipes.com) had a messageboard one of the forums was “Dead Food” that had tons of entries and discussions. I remember a really popular one was the Marathon candy bar. Someone brought that up like twice a month.

I would often remember this cereal of the late 80’s. I would mention it to members of my family and they wouldn’t know what I was talking about. Then one day this summer my mom came home with “Ice Cream Cones” cereal! General Mills is making it. I don’t remember if General Mills made the 80’s version or not. A slight disappointment is that the “cones” aren’t really cones like they used to be (more of a slightly curled Golden Graham).

But it made bran palatable, and it worked.😉

Keebler O’Boises! I haven’t thought of those in years! Now I want some. And their butter pretzels. I introduced quite a few people to those, and were they pissed when Keebler discontinued them.

When I was a child, Nestle test marketed a “Triple Decker” chocolate bar in my area. A layer each of dark chocolate, white chocolate and milk chocolate. Mmmmmmmmmm…they disappeared quickly, but I will remember them to my dying day.

And various Ben & Jerry’s flavors, but that’s a whole separate thread.
