Well, he was born 128 years ago. That’s pretty strong evidence he’s dead.
That’s quite a pedigree. Sometimes I think this Mr. Hitler might have been a little messed up in some way.
Was that kind of family history usual for turn of the 20th century central Europeans or did he stand out? Did he have, dare I say, bad genes?
I am getting to suspect that I may be the last person alive for whom the OP’s question makes absolutely no sense.
Why didn’t Hitler escape? is right up there with Why do boats float?
It is what they do. There is no choice involved.
Your lungs and heart can’t switch roles.
Some things just are
Not any more, SFAIK. The remaining physical evidence was destroyed by the KGB in about 1970. But there’s eyewitness testimony from both German and Soviet sources as to his death and what became of his remains.
I know the soviet’s had some skull fragments they claimed were his that were tested in 2009 and found to belong to a female under the age of 40.
More like not enough genes. Hitler’s parents were first cousins - and that’s if you assume that the family records were accurate. Hitler’s father, Alois, was born illegitimate. Johann Georg Hiedler later married his mother. After Johann Georg’s death it was officially declared that he had been Alois’ biological father all along.
Johann Georg had a younger brother, Johann Nepomuk Huettler (the family seems to have been unable to agree on how their last name was spelled). Johann had a daughter, Johanna, and she had a daughter Klara. Alois and Klara ended up getting married and they were Hitler’s parents.
As I noted, this would make Alois and Klara first cousins. But the identity of Alois’ father is ambiguous. While Johann Georg was officially declared to be Alois’ father there’s evidence his actual father was Johann Nepomuk. If so that means Alois was Klara’s uncle.
Near the end he learned of Himmler trying to make a deal with the allies, and had Goring declare that if he didn’t hear from Hitler, he’d consider himself the Fuehrer. Both stunning betrayals to Hitler. So I posit that at that point he simply didn’t trust that whoever managed his escape wouldn’t sell him out. Combined with his strong reluctance to become a victory spoil for the Russians, that kept him put.
He had so much distrust that he both took poison and shot himself, in case the SS-provided poison was a placebo.
