Why do Conservatives think lowering taxes = Fiscal responsibility?

No it bribe what these corporation are doing they are saying if you tax me I’m going to China.

These corporation give a lot money to the conervative party thus they pro corporation .

The left party can tax them and go after them after the recession. In the recession you suppose to run high debt not tax base system .In other words Obama has to run almost 0 tax base and run high debt than when out of the recession and things doing well increase tax and it works this way for decades in Europe and Canada like this .

Even the New York times and wall street say the trickle down economics is not working and there should be tax on the 1% but again you don’t do this in recession .

They have to get out of the recession and unemployment below 5% than increase tax and pay of the debt.

The news should be about jobs and recession not the debt.

The US electoral system is broken and these corporation that leave US should be tax to hell.

I just think taxes, whenever possible, should be built into the cost of the good in some way and levied on the beneficiaries of a particular government service. Personally, I’m not convinced we should have a government, but since I don’t want to be bogged down in the consequences of that position, I try to find a middle ground where taxes aren’t as redistributive.

I don’t think govt should be involved in health care at all, but that’s a tough sell because people already think there is a free market in healthcare and it is causing rising prices. As a pragmatist, I see that UHC works well in other countries and it’s better than our current mixed system. So for the sake of brevity I try to provide a safety net for the poor while allowing a totally free market to operate seperately.

Roads, as I mentioned could be financed by a combination of gas taxes and tolls. This way drivers pay more if they drive more. It’s not perfect, but I think it’s better than income taxes.

This is a great “the sky is falling” debate tactic…

I imagine somewhere in there, there is a whole other middle.

An excluded middle that around half of the GOP Congresspeople are not in. To be charitable, the ones who opposed raising the debt ceiling are saying that we need to immediately balance our budget, which, considering that revenue increases and defense cuts are also off the table, would require huge slashing or elimination of our social programs immediately.

Of course, there are other even less charitable interpretations of their actions, but that’s not the topic of this thread.

I really have a hard time understanding how you guys vilify the Republicans but you hold the Democrats to a different standard. Both parties have lately been back door dealing that involve just what you are espousing. (Raise the ceiling with the promise of future cuts, cuts that never come, get the opposition on board by coercing them by NOT raising taxes on anybody) and we just keep spending like Paris Hilton on crack and pass the bills on to our kids (or theirs)

The ONLY way that will stop is by providing comeuppance “right fucking now” if you can’t or won’t see the financial effect of a bill (that does some arbitrary ‘Good’), of course it looks good to you. It doesn’t to me.

I have a hard time understanding this post, period. Are you saying that you do support an immediate balancing of the budget? If so, then you are not in your vaunted “excluded middle” that you are trying to claim. If not, then you’re not the person I was responding to.

No, not an immediate balancing but an immediate balancing of any new spending (I.E.. Don’t do it)

I guess that war didn’t cost much, then. Oh no, I remember, it was going to pay for itself.
No, that’s not right either…Rumsfeld said we would make $$$ in that folly.
“Conservatives”
What have you actually conserved?
(Your own bank account is not an answer, and this is not a rhetorical question.)
I’m sure that calling yourself “Conservative” makes you feel conservative, but if that’s all it takes, why not call yourself Superman, and fly around for a while, that’s got to be a rush!
