Hi all, I know this seems to be an age-old questions and has been discussed over and over again. I searched through google and some old archive of Straight Dope newsgroups but I still haven’t found the sure answer. The question is: Why do men like women’s breasts? ---

They’re soft to the touch, and they add to the overall esthetic curviness of the feminine figure. As **Reeder** said, what’s not to like? ---

Well, from just about Day One, it’s where the food comes from. What’s not to like about that? “Liking” breasts seems to be an innate trait - critters like calves, kittens and puppies pop out of the womb, programmed to find a teat and start sucking. Some male humans just take it a step or two farther. ---

i can’t speak for other men but I am yet to discover any part of women that I **don’t** like. You can slowly run your fingertips over any bit of them while you drift off into a reverie. ---

Perhaps not permanent breasts, but if you’ve ever seen a lactating cow/cat/dog, you can certainly see the resemblance… granted cats and dogs have something like 8 of them, and it looks a bit freaky, but the concept remains. My theory is that men like to have sex because it gives you a pretty good chance of seeing a woman naked… ---

Mother fixation? Food? Hogwash. I think those of us who are attracted to women like breasts because they are a prominent part of the package of femininity. They’re part of what makes women women. At least for most straight men I think it’s so; I don’t know about lesbians. ---

Certainly evolution may have given us the idea that nice/big breasts lead to healthier children.
