I know a local musician who is desperate for fame, period. Yes, he’s on Facebook and, yes, he has supposedly paid for such nonsense. ---

I’m thinking it’s not unlike all the idjits selling Twitter followers. “Pay me money and watch your Follower count triple!” or some such nonsense, using a bunch of fake Twitter accounts set up by Ukrainian high school students for a ruble a hundred. ---

If you set up a Page for a business, say, and you make a post then only a fraction of the people who have liked your Page will have the post appear in their own timeline. Paying Facebook increases that percentage. It’s basically paying to promote a post.
