On the last _Simple Life_, she and Nicole mentioned their addiction to bronzer. They even gave some to the 6 year old (that was a guess) boy whose family they were staying with as something to remember them by.

And then she squandered it! I once caught a little soundbite off one of those “Fabulous Life Of” shows or whatever, that was something along the lines of “What’s the point of being rich if you’re not famous?” They missed the point!
>
> There’s all sorts of places in this country where there’s a big hedge or wall by the road. Behind the hedge people are living in unimaginable wealth - Chris Rock’s “wealthy”, not “rich”. You wouldn’t recognize their names unless it was either very old new money or the name was attatched to, say, a chain of hotels. You wouldn’t know them in the street. They can (and do, sometimes) buy and sell all those “famous” people in the tabloids. Paris Hilton gave that up _on purpose_, and this I don’t understand.

Except that she wanted to make her _ **own** _ money. I don’t get what people want from her. If she sat back on her money, people would say she was a lazy spoiled brat. When she goes out and makes her own money, they say she’s a publicity whore. I’m sure Paris Hilton knows that she’s not the brightest bulb. She is doing what she can to make money. Anonymity doesn’t afford her an opportunity to make millions being an intern.

Disliking her style doesn’t make her ugly. I would love to see a picture of you so I can see how you dress and wear your makeup.

And you’re so sure that her goal is financial rather than just being a huge attention whore because? Even if this was a calculated plan to prove herself financially (and it isn’t), she sought media attention and then created the image of a stupid, spoiled whore. If you want us to stop calling her a stupid, spoiled whore, you should tell Paris to stop acting like one.

I don’t think you can fault her for making her money this way, because she wouldn’t be making this money if people stopped turning out in droves to watch her make a fool of herself. If she can find an audience, then you have to give her some credit for making it work.

I would like to add that I think she is a stupid, attention-seeking whore as well. I agree that she isn’t doing this for the money, but I don’t think you can blame her that she has found fame in acting like a stupid, attention-seeking whore.

It’s more of a comment on the taste of society at large than anything else. I don’t understand what people find entertaining about her program, but it is obvious that millions of people do. Unfortunately.

> I really think you guys have a hard time disassociating your feelings for her as a person from your appraisals of her looks.

Well, not all of us are shallow. For most people, its hard to disassociate feelings in that way. Its hard for me, but when I do it I can see your point. I don’t think Paris is ugly - but she is NOT smokin’ hot. Need I remind you that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. This eye thinks she is skanky and entirely too thin.

That last judgment was made without consideration of her personality. Just like you’re asking us to do.

If I had never heard of her, never saw her in my life and just saw [this](http://www.hot-paris-hilton-pictures.com/p11.jpg) for the first time - it would set of my Skank-o-Meter. **THEN** if I read about her and found out what a spoiled rotten, slutty little airhead she was, it would make her look even worse. You can’t take away the personality factor - it contributes too much.

You’re right, she isn’t ugly. But the fact that you are giving her too much credit for her looks is the reason why people hate her so much. NOBODY should ride on beauty (and inheritance) alone, and its a fucking shame that she’s allowed to do it. It _hurts_ us as a society that she is even considered a hot commidity. Especially if you consider the fact that most of her so-called attractiveness isn’t even natural. She’s plastic, what’s so special about that? Paris devalues natural beauty. All of the attention on her looks is a slap in the face to the naturally stunning women who didn’t have to do anything to themselves to be that way.

When it comes to how I look, I’m a true [Plain Jane](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/Coriander39/mvc-009s.jpg) - so I’m not going to say I’m better looking than her, because I really don’t think I am. However, lets put it this way: If I had plastic surgery, bleached hair, bronzed my skin, never ate, and packed on the make-up - I would look a lot like her. If you take away the fake ‘n’ bake, the make-up, the hair dye, the plastic surgery, gave her a meal, and put some clothes on her ass - Paris would look a lot like me.

I read an interview with Paris Hilton in the UK edition of Glamour last month, she actually came across as a really nice person.

I dont think shes living off her parents anymore either, she models for Guess jeans and has her own clothing/perfume/bag range. Sure her parents money made her what she is, but shes not the only person inthe world to have goten help from her parents!

And apparently she doesnt drink, she just has energy drinks and doesnt care what people think, hence the madness - not sure if I believe that…

The same magazine had an interview with a female paparazzi photographer in LA, she couldnt say nicer things about Paris, apparently shes one of very few people who always lets them take pictures.

I dont love her, but I dont understand why people hate her either.

Why is it that I always think people looked better before plastic surgery? What the heck was wrong with her before picture that made her think she needed an after?

If she were happy to just sit back on her money, I doubt many people would say anything about her at all. That’s because they would never hear about her and would have no idea who she was. “Oh, there’s actually a Mr. Hilton behind the Hilton hotels? And he’s got a daughter? How about that.” If Paris Hilton worried as much as you do about the nasty things the public might say about her, she would have kept out of the spotlight.

\*Why does Paris Hilton need an opportunity to make millions being an intern? She was born with an opportunity that very few people have, the opportunity to do whatever she wanted _without_ worrying about having to “do what she can to make money”. She could have just about any kind of life she chose. She has chosen to be a celebrity socialite bimbo. If you’re looking for reasons why people might dislike her you could start there. I’m not sure why you care though, since it’s pretty clear that Miss Hilton doesn’t. She’s created her own public image and she seems happy enough with it.

I used to have a crush on Paris, I don’t anymore but I still think she is HOT.

People love her because they love her lifestyle, who wouldn’t want to hang out with rich and famous people and party all night at the most extravagant night spots around the world. To be honest she is far from ugly, I never get how people can say that Paris Hilton is not at all attractive and actually mean it.

She’s certainly not the Daughter of the Elephant Man or anything. The world is full of worse-looking people. I can think of plenty of young women I’d consider more attractive, though. Not just celebrities either, but people I know in real life.

Oh like ugly people have so much going on inside them.
Paris looks fine. I prefer more natural looking hot chicks but that’s just me.

Personally I’m sick of the new TV trend of (outwardly) stupid spoiled beautiful people acting like spoiled children (Gastino Girls, Sweet 16, Growing up Gotti, The OC, etc). Yes I get it. You are so rich and beautiful you can go through life as an imbecile. Very amusing.

People watch them because we have a bizare love/hate thing with the wealthy. We envy their wealth and resent their arrogance yet aspire to be like them. You know what? I don’t need a million dollars to get drunk all day, go to bars and clubs and be obnoxious. I did that just fine while unemployed.

Why does anyone want to be famous? For every Donald Trump there must be a thousand multi-millionares/billionares content to quietly run their companies and live in their Greenwich, CT mansions. For some people the notoriety is more important than the wealth. Money is not a big deal if you are born into it.

Did I _say_ that her style makes her ugly? No, I did not. I specifically said she was attractive, but that the way she dresses, fixes her hair and wears her make up is _unflattering._. That is NOT the same thing as ugly.
She needs a makeover. I also think she was prettier pre-plastic surgery.

I’d post a picture if you don’t mind one that’s from 2002. Or a Dopefest picture from 2003.

Actually, I’m afraid I’ve got to disagree. I must say that if someone’s style is bad, then they’re unattractive (how unattractive depends on the style) so long as they maintain it. They may not be ugly in different makeup or clothing, but if someone does him/herself up in a way that I find unattractive, I find it very hard to call that person good-looking.

Here’s an anecdotal example. In my graduating class, there were a large number of girls I would say were hot. Among them was my (sort-of) girlfriend. Now, I really dislike both poofy, princess-style dresses and “up” hair (the sort you see at proms everywhere). Naturally, since this was the graduation ceremony, most of the girls in the class had their hair up, were in princess dresses, or both. I can honestly say that I found _none_ of them attractive (sorry, girls!).

I don’t find Paris Hilton attractive. She doesn’t fit my **personal taste**. In fact, if I had to judge simply on my own taste, I would call her ugly. Noentheless, I also know that other guys have stupid taste (;)), so I’m willing to admit that they might find her hot.

Back to my point. If people don’t like her style, and that’s the style for which she’s famous, then I think they can say that they find her ugly.

I alwys suspected she got a surgical workover, but couldn’t be bothered to check. I find her looks disturbing, as is the case with most cyborgs, and now I know for sure why. No real surprise that she’s _totally_ fake.

I’m throughly fed up with the Paris phenomenon. I don’t even love to hate her (which appears to be the main proclivity of those who follow her antics). I think I could be motivated to watch a real-life Paris vs. Martha celebrity deathmatch, though I’d have a hard time deciding who to root for.

No. I take that back. Martha can win, so long as she comes away with debilitating head trauma.

</div>

Actually, I don’t see what the problem is with seeing someone as ugly based on their personality. (or in the phrase used throughout this thread, “taking it personally”). Personality is the only thing that makes someone attractive or not beyond the initial point of seeing them. Paris Hilton could have just about any physical aspect you care to name. Her acting like a bubble-brained idiot is what makes her unattractive to me. She is flat-out unnatractive, and it’s based solely on the way she acts. But then again, I obviously have issues with the beautiful people.
