Learn how to not be so anal. It was a joke.
magellan01 gives the basic “I don’t really believe this myself, but its the fun party line to take to rile up ya’ll” case for drudge not being a righty. Anyone buy it?
Me neither. Anyone who reads drudge regularly knows his slant and how it slants. The way the headlines are phrased, and issues are framed, which stories get immediate and constant coverage and which are ignored or mentioned later and less prominently.
There’s no reason to hate drudge: he does what he does and its popular and influential. I think what bothers people the most is the way in which drudge seems to drive the course of a lot of stories in the media, and very effectively frame them for the GOP.
Just to clarify, Drudge is a conservative. He admits it. My post was intended to show that he is not extreme. I have friends that are on the left that like using his site for information and a jumping off point. In fact, it was a liberal friend who originally told me abou the site.
Given Drudge’s sense of journalistic integrity, it’s not very smart for anyone of any political leaning as a source for information. When people talk about the unreliability of the Internet, they’re talking about Drudge.
Which is why it’s the favorite reference at Fox News.
“Rumors on the internet web site ‘The Drudge Report’ claim Hillary Clinton was spotted entering the New York offices of NAMBLA…”
That means jack squat. I read the National Review blog and I read drudge, and I work for the Democratic Party for goodness sakes. Drudge is powerful and influential: you read him because everyone else does.
I’m not sure what you intend to mean by “he’s not extreme.” Is Jonah Goldberg extreme? How do you define extreme?
The point is that the claim that drudge is somehow balanced or, as YOU cited a liberal, is simply ridiculous. You only have to follow his site for a couple of days to know that. He’s a salacious guy that lives in rumor and tabloid breaking news, but he’s fast and influential, and mostly out for himself and his empire when you come down to it like any good entrepreneur. But he’s also, undeniably, a conservative “blogger” who spins things that way.
In what alternate parallel universe are any of these people considered “right-wing”? Methinks you misspoke.
I bet some web page designers hate him. When will he finally start to use a design that doesn’t look like it was made by a high school student in 1996?
Everytime I get the urge to look at his page I get cured of it real quick. That site gives me a headache.
I think you missed the sarcasm.
I think you are mistaken. If I implied that he is a liberal I most certainly am in error. I don’t think I did though. Please point it out. I did state explicitly that he is a conservative and that he admits to being a conservative.
Methinks you missed your morning coffee.
Sorry; I’ve seen the same kind of Googling used as a cite before, and there was nothing about your post that suggested anything else. I know, I’ll assume everything you say is a joke unless you state otherwise.
Nah, I just missed the gag and thought that you made a mistake. My bad.
Either that or a poor joke on my part.
He probably uses it to increase stress and axiety in his readership.
Give me a break, you tool. You poo-poo’ed complaints of him being biased with a ridiculously board stretching line by line posting of every linked news source and writer (all of which are down below the headlines and which virtually no one reads drudge for or clicks through to) and then linked to a wikipedia bit purporting to show that drudge was “left of center” and then tried to paint the whole idea of him being biased as some fantasy of the “far left.”
So don’t act all coy now.
Here’s drudge today:
"THE BIG SNUB: Incoming Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to skip Ford funeral… "
Is it a big snub? When we read the article, we find that Reid two Democratic Senators AND two other Republican Senators, which of course drudge doesn’t mention, left on a Wednesday for an official trip and are scheduled to meet with three heads of state and don’t think they can get out of it or reschedule. The article seems to say that they’ve done and are considering doing all sorts of things to express condolences and try to make it back for some of the services.
Where is the snub? Where’s any evidence of malice or bad feelings on anyones part? Only in drudge’s cleverly shaded imagination.
[simulation of a magellan01 thought process]But of course, drudge has linked to a yahoo news article, liberals are a bunch of yahoos, and so any kvetching about drudge being a conservative hack is just plain silly.

There’s a thought process?

Bush will miss Ford’s Capitol service.
But does drudge describe this as a “snub”? Does it even get a mention? Nope.
