If someone tried to have me fired by accusing me of smoking in my office because I was considerate enough to throw my cigarette butts in the trash instead of on the ground, I don’t think I’d be too inclined to put them in my pocket anymore. Then again I might also be inclined to throw them in that person’s trash can. ---

And I know this because when there’s no ashtray handy, this is what I do.
