Why do the world's Joe the Plumbers think tax cuts for the rich benefit them?

So, how’s that working out for you, Max?

You think a flat tax is disproportionate!!?

When I hear something like that, I want to explain the difference between arithmetic & geometric functions, which is beside the point, but might help.

Let’s put it this way. The real question is how much opportunity & power (in the form of money) is left after a person is taxed. At anything more regressive than a flat tax, a wealthy person ends up keeping a disproportionate share of his earnings. That’s disproportionate.

Well, considering the massive private fortunes that have been made in the last thirty years, that wouldn’t have to happen if we’d kept progressive tax rates & indexed them to mean incomes or something.

He’s been Freeping down by the docks again. Look, there’s Cheet-o dust on his collar.

Fortunes are made and lost everyday in the gambling casino called the stock market. Like all games after a while the fix is in and the system is gamed. These people make money by creating money without creating a product. They do not employ people in the making of a product. They do not add to the general welfare. But for some reason, they should have tax breaks?

But, but – isn’t that what you ALWAYS assume?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Well played.
