# Why do we enjoy hot showers and hot baths?

These Japanese snow monkeys seem to enjoy a hot dip.

  
Perhaps a distant human ancestor found a similar hot spring, managed to survive what would otherwise be hypothermia (during an Ice Age?), and passed on the rewarding sensation to the descendants.
