Um, that the Moderator Cabal went over to her house, beat the crap out of her with baseball bats, for daring to criticize something on the Boards, and they beat her so badly that she had amnesia, and she woke up in the hospital not knowing who she was, and so she hasn’t been able to post since last May? Or, or, wait, I know! She must’ve been on the [Witness List](http://www.house.gov/science/energy/may17/energy_witness_051701.htm) for the Committee on Science Subcommittee on Energy of the U.S. House of Representatives hearing on “Department of Energy Office of Science—Issues and Opportunities”, and Big Oil had her snuffed before she could testify 'cause she was gonna say something mean about them. Or, or, wait, I know! When she heard Dubya’s outline for his [national energy plan](http://fyi.cnn.com/2001/fyi/lesson.plans/05/17/energy.plan/), she got so disgusted that she packed her gear and moved to a tiny island in the South Pacific. Or, or, wait, I know! Maybe “she” was really Richard Blahut, and when “she” was [named head of the U of I’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Department,](http://www.ece.uiuc.edu/enews/newhead/) “she” realized that it was time to grow up and put childish things behind “her”, and so “she” swore off the SDMB. Or, or, wait, I know! Maybe she flunked her [Authentidate Content Authentication](http://csrc.nist.gov/pki/twg/y2001/twg01_5.htm) during the May meeting of the Federal PKI Technical Working Group, and she got fired, so she doesn’t have free Internet access anymore. Or, or, wait, I know! Maybe she got food poisoning at the [Center for Food Safety luncheon](http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:bjPrk3jjyJc:www.ncfst.iit.edu/pdfdocs/ift01.pdf+May+17,+2001&hl=en)–and died. Or maybe she just suddenly got a life. It does happen, you know. ---

Heh. My daily post average here (total posts divided by approximate number of days since registration) is still slightly higher than over at Fathom, even though it’s true that I’ve been more active there in the last year-and-some. I don’t remember ever _saying_ I was going to give this place a rest, it just worked out that way. Worked out that way for everything else, too, actually. Just had other stuff to do. Hmmm… There’s a large grey area left here, which, with my usual trepidation, I’d open. What about the sort of post that _questions_ a given policy of the board, respectfully and either for information or to suggest a plausible alternative? Where does that appropriately belong? I could see here in ATMB or the Pit, since there’s a slippery slope between “Can you X?” (ATMB) "Why can’t you X? (the grey area post) and “The Moderators are Maroons for not letting me X!!” (Pit). ---
