Where Iran is concerned, I fear that mission creep is the mission.
The mission is to weaken the Iranian government (both political and religious) to the point where a Persian Spring can succeed, without causing major disruptions to the world’s oil supply.
An article from the Fox News website says that Iran has backed off on their threat to close the strait.
I’ll post a link once a news site decides to say the same thing.
