The worst thing I think people can say to a single person is “There’s someone for everyone.” No. No there is not. Some people will be alone. Learn to live alone without being lonely and half your battle is won. Do not believe for one single minute that there is some sort of kharmic bank whereby you are owed companionship.

Some of my best days on earth have been when I’ve been single. Some other of my best days on earth have been when I’ve been in a relationship.

When my friend starts moaning about being single, I tell him “Learn to not be a prick”. That response may not work well with strangers, though.

I’ve never gotten this (although I have heard a lot of stories), but I would assume it is because most relationships are dysfunctional.

Really it’s “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.”

Every so often, there’s a thread on here bemoaning the fact that busybodies pester people about not being married, or not having boyfriends, and then now we have someone griping that people are suggesting they enjoy being single.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

I’d think the best course of action is just to not bring up relationships at all.

> Where do you find these people? As near as I can tell, it never dawns on my friends that I might be looking for someone.

I travel a lot and have 2 dogs that go with me practically everywhere. I have lived in a several states and am lucky to have some real good friends.

I think it’s usually the wife of “these people” who have the opinion that a single person should have someone special in their life to grow old with, dunno?

I’m in love with about 5 girls right now but have never thought of going under contract with one of them :lol

Plus I think living with me would be too chaotic and spontaneous for someone

I was given that “advice” by several well meaning coworkers back when I was employed.

I have several health issues, cannot drive and am waiting for the summer semester of a community college to start up. So between now and June I’m sort of in a limbo. I’ve tried Meetup, Facebook groups, volunteering and can’t seem to find someone (platonic or romantic) that doesn’t run for the hill when they eventually learn I have brain damage. They treat it like Ebola or something.
