> I’ll give you two. One, the wall. Yes I hate the wall, there are better and cheaper ways to deal with illegal aliens.

Where do you stand on supporting a man who doesn’t just say “we should enforce immigration laws” but refers to immigrants as animals? And whose policies reflect this? Why do you support a man who promised cheaper health insurance for everyone without saying how he’d do this but ended up contributing nothing to the matter but some really impressive photos of him pretending to drive a truck?

I really don’t see anything Trump is doing as making America particularly great. What’s so great about rolling back environmental regulations 50 years? What’s so fine about white supremacists?

What’s your stance on L’Affaire Russe? Fake news? Trump done it but you don’t care? Everyone in the Trump campaign except Trump may be connected to Russia but he was too clueless to notice?

Trump shames your country.

We do seem to run into that a lot here, and it seems to be one of the hallmarks of Conservative Logic these days.

Like the guy who buggered off because he would make random nonsensical statements and claim that because someone was mentioned in the bible and actually existed, it was proof that the entire bible was true. He got upset about how ‘stubborn’ we were by asking for proof of anything and expecting him to answer questions.

Us darned dirty stubborn bastards, asking for proof of assertions…

I posed this question to a Trump-supporting friend of mine, here is his response:

> [@](#):
>
> I could write for days, but here’s something quick: If I had to summarize my support for Donald Trump in one quotation, it would be from his April 28, 2016 foreign policy address: “The nation state remains the true foundation for happiness and harmony.” This is the president’s view, and mine: that each nation should prioritize the welfare of its own citizens domestically and advance its own interests internationally. This belief informs the president’s policies on most of the key issues of the day.
> On immigration, the electorate’s top issue in 2016, it means border security on both the southern and northern borders, including some form of “the wall.” Walls work. It also means moving to a merit-based immigration system and away from visa lotteries and chain migration, so that those we bring in are those most able and most eager to contribute to America, to perform the jobs and provide the services for which we have need, and to assimilate – to become, first and foremost, Americans.
> Internationally, it means a return to Reaganesque world leadership based on moral clarity. The apology tours and inextricable multilateral agreements are over. We negotiate bilaterally with individual countries, and we show strength, not weakness and appeasement, to those (Iran, North Korea) who represent evil. We take strong and decisive action when we believe it is right – as in honoring our ally Israel’s choice of its national capital – and do not demur because such actions are “not done.”
> On a personal level, I have wanted Donald Trump to run for president for 25 years. His instincts are better than those of any man or woman I have ever known or known of. Almost invariably, he turns out to have been right; the only question is when the rest of us find out. He literally wrote the book on the art of the deal, and now we are benefitting from his expertise. I also believe he is motivated by a deep and abiding love for American workers and the American work ethic. The only color he sees is green, and he finds the unrealized potential in companies, projects and people. He also has a hilarious sense of humor, and has begun to loosen the death grip of political correctness on American discourse. Even those who disdain him have to admit they’re having fun. If they don’t, they’re lying.

> For domestic policies, putting america first makes sense. You are talking about americans, in america, and putting them first is pretty much by definition what you are supposed to do.
>
> When it comes to international policies, it’s a bit trickier. To put America first is to be an imperial power. If we insist on getting things our way, and use our military to back it up, we may get other countries to acquiesce to our demands, but only until we show our military to no longer be undefeatable.

Actually there’s nothing wrong with keeping America’s interests at the forefront of one’s mind when working in international affairs.

The problem, of course, is that you have to actually have a damn clue about what you’re doing, which would probably preclude destroying America’s relationships with its allies, getting it into tariff wars, and eradicating its reputation and credibility abroad.

And of course it would also help not to be in thrall to a hostile foreign power.

Yes. And unfortunately, Trump has no shame himself. And has said that “He has never been wrong”

I believe the evidence that we have that shows that Trump knows that Russia helped him win the election. We wait for the investigation to conclude.

He will never admit it of course, because his narcissism and belief that he is the greatest.

No doubt Putin would have incontrovertible evidence of this.

And so Putin has Trump, and the US by the balls. And by extension, a lot of the rest of the world.

This is where a pro-gun person says “Stop helping.”

Ya really think the US Army and NATO moved from .30-06 and .308 to “an 22 with a lot more powder”?
Ya really think that a .223/5.56mm round is just a .22 rimfire “with a lot more powder”?
Ya really think bore diameter and powder charge are the only determining factors in the terminal energy of a firearm?
Ya really think that taking a .50 Action Express, .50 GI, .500 GNR, .500 Maximum, etc, etc center mass has the same effect as a .50 BMG?

CMC fnord!
Since y’all are tearing everything else to shreds I figured I’d gnaw at this little chestnut of ignorance.

This is so at odds with what the actual occupant of the White House has consistently demonstrated, over and over again (both past and present), that I honestly don’t even know where to begin. So I’ll just start with- **WHAT** sense of humor? [I do have to chuckle with the “green” thing tho]

It’s like they see a completely different person, _radically_ different. I have no words that can express my shock. And no, I do not find any of his schtick “fun”-I see a very real threat, to not only our nation, but to the world.

Yeah, that ‘deep and abiding love of the american worker’ business is absurd.

This is the man who has had a four figure number of lawsuits against him for non-payment of his contractors. I’m honestly surprised at this point that _anyone_ does work for him. Hell, if I estimated that doing a job for him would cost $10,000, I’d insist on $15,000 up front with the option to return excess funds. NOT ‘he tells me what he’s paying and I return the excess’. Oh no no no. I tell him how much the work I did cost and return any excess above that. And I stop dead at $15k unless I get more in advance.
