> Me, I like solar and wind. I like battery technology advancements. I don’t think I am a “liberal”, but my question with nuclear power is always: **where can we safely store Anything for 500,000 years?**

Why is this a problem? After refining and reprocessing, the amount of intensely radioactive waste is miniscule compared to the other pollution we generate. Cast it into glass bricks and stack them out in the middle of White Sands Proving Ground. Put a fence around them with a sign that says “If you pass this fence you will die.” Then leave them there. Who knows, we might need that waste in the future to power our spaceships. The Romans thought oil was waste when it seeped into their water wells. Never throw anything away that there could be a conceivable need for in the future.

> How was I screwed no matter what and why support them. Easy, I look at the way congress spends money it doesn’t have (that whole promise of a balance budget long forgotten after congress convinced people there was no need for a balance budget amendment, kind of like that whole immigration promise in the 1980’s) If Hillary got in spending would go up (and while that wouldn’t be her fault because as I’ve pointed out the president can’t spend a dime she would encourage it) and she make more trade deals like NAFTA (which I feel wasn’t the greatest deal for America). She would have continued policies that I don’t agree with. And with Trump spending would go up, (again congress spends at the encouragement of the president only Trump spends it on different things) The social security fund really has no funds as the government spent that money a LONG time ago (both parties are to blame and it does have a nice stack of IOU’s) so we are going to be taxed to payback the money we paid into the system. So I look at Greece and see where we’re heading. Greece 's debt is about 180% of it’s GDP we are at about 104% (it worst than that as some of those IOU’s don’t show up on the books) so spending goes up every year, taxes have to go up, the debt goes up we pay more interest and our debt to GDP goes up. At some point the bill will have to be paid and I’m betting I’ll be one of the many people who get the short end of the stick.
>
> Like I said no matter who’s in I’m screwed, it a matter of how bad.

Plenty wrong with the above but let’s just say there isn’t. If you’re screwed no matter who you vote for, why did you vote? Why didn’t you stay home instead of voting for the most incompetent and morally corrupt candidate in our lifetime? And do you stand by your decision now?

Greece was stuck in a situation where they were deep in debt with a strong currency they _could not devalue_. They also weren’t a particularly strong economy to begin with, so there was reason to believe that they would default on those debts. This simply doesn’t apply in the US - we’re one of the world’s largest economies, and US treasury bonds are so rock-solid that for a while, [people were literally paying us to hang on to their money](https://www.npr.org/2016/07/21/486854394/who-buys-bonds-with-a-negative-interest-rate) - lending us money at a negative interest rate. “This, as you might have guessed, didn’t happen in greece” is the kind of tongue-in-cheek understatement a person who is good at comedy might make.

At some point the bill will come due, yea we could devalue or currency but that would have it own set of problems. How about we balance the budget and pay our bills. We might not become Greece or Venezuela, but I’d rather have people owning me money rather than the other way around.

Yes, I do stand by my decision now. Having seen what a Clinton white house looked like and watching her dance around the issues of her e-mail problems reminded me of it “It depends upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.” Even now she’s blaming everyone else for her losing the election. In fact given her track record and her statements I think I picked the least incompetent/ morally corrupt candidate that was up for election that had a chance to win.

I voted for the person who I felt was going to screw me less.

Fine.

Do you think Trump, the man that has screwed over people for money his entire life. The man that is involved in a few thousand lawsuits. The man that has had to turn to Russia to get loans. The man that is involved in a number of schemes that violate the emoluments clause is the person that is going to balance the budget and pay bills?

BUT HER EMAILS!!! :smack:

But no talk about Trump, his son-in-law and all the others in the White House who have done the same thing or worse, AFTER screaming about locking up Hillary for doing it. :smack: Sending confidential or secret emails from private, non-secured servers. In one case, from a server that was so hilariously out of date, operating system wise that any five year old could hack it, owned by the guy who claimed he employs only the best people (but didn’t bother to hire the best server admins).

Hell, even Pence is guilt of that shit.

> The difference is, Trump signed the tax cut for the rich that reduced revenue. So not only does he increase spending, he reduces the revenue available to pay for it. If debt is an important issue to you, you must realize Trump is twice as bad as Hillary in that respect.

Again I don’t agree with everything Trump does. Why do people think that just because you voted for someone you have to agree with EVERYTHING they do. I don’t agree with the fence, I don’t agree with excessive governmental spending, etc.

Had the Democrats came out and said, “We will help pass a balance budget amendment, give power back to the states and local government.” They would have gotten my vote.

I believe that the closer the government is to the people the better people are governed, the needs and wants of my town are vastly different than the needs and wants of say Seattle. I want the local school board making the decision, not someone in DC.

Yes, we need some federal control over some things, but how much control is the question. Basically I feel the federal government has overstepped its bound and infringed on state rights.

Since his first day in office, Trump is on record as having lied over 3000 times. We’re not even talking about the things he lied about during his campaign or the crap he’s known to have said and done throughout his life before entering politics. Do you stand by your statement that Hillary’s poor judgement regarding the email server is worse than anything Trump did leading up to the election, and, do you continue to stand by your statement that Hillary’s behavior post election (book, etc.) is worse than the daily lies and various other statements made by Trump since entering office?

And if you do, please explain why you prefer a pathological daily liar, Trump, to an occasional liar, Hillary?

Nope but I do hear the ads for all the FREE MONEY the government is giving away, call today to get your check. I’ve gotten a few robo calls telling me I “won” a government grant, my record for keeping them on the line is 45 min. You know for people who are trying to give me money they are really rude. 😃

See, you _say_ this, but I don’t know that it’s a given. When we treat countries like households, and imply “all debts must be paid off”, we miss the bigger picture. I don’t really feel like following this tangent. I just really don’t think you know as much economics as you think you do. This shit’s hard. I’d rather hear about the subtext on your clinton quote.

Not to mention the obvious passing along of classified information to foreign agents in person vs. alleged mishandling of supposedly classified emails. Anyone who believes we got the “least incompetent/ morally corrupt” candidate doesn’t pay enough attention.

I’m ever curious about Trump supporters and whether they use the same unit/scale/ratio of measurement when it comes to comparing the bad things done by HRC vs. those done by Trump.

> No and in fact I want LEGAL immigration. If a person is willing to follow our laws then welcome, but if they come here illegally then they should be sent back immediately. I know one person who won a lottery to come into the US. She didn’t speak English, took a job cleaning bathrooms, even though she was well educated, but spoke almost no English. She worked hard and told me many times she cried herself to sleep, because she had no-one to talk too, but she now loves it here and tells everyone how lucky we are.

Great! So do the Democrats. Part of the immigration reform they are promoting is the expansion and facilitation of legal immigration so that people don’t have to break the law. It the Republicans who are opposed to this, and Trump who is doing his best to shut down the program you just praised (unless your friend happened to be Norwegian rather than coming from one of those “shithole” countries).

The question is what to do with the 12 million people who are already here. As the Nazis discovered rounding up and deporting this many people is a logistic nightmare even aside from the humanitarian side of things. Leaving them here as a shadow underclass to be preyed upon at will because they fear going to the police is also not a sustainable option. So what do you propose?

As for the “Dreamers” what benefit is there to forcibly transporting a young man or woman who has lived almost their entire life in the Untied states, to some random country that they have no memory of, know nobody in, and may not even speak the language of. Basically imagine the plight of your friend who is in a new land doesn’t speak the language, knows no one and is cleaning toilets while she cries herself to sleep at night, but rather than doing this of her own free will for a chance of a better life in a land or opportunity, she had this forced upon her and was moved from a land of opportunity, to a land of poverty and danger. I suppose there is some cruel justice of letting the sins of the father fall upon the children, but no one is the better for this.

Had a moment, relates to that. Cheech Marin’s movie, _Born In East L.A._, Cheech’s Mom asks him to go pick up his cousin who is coming from Mexico. He complains “Ah, Ma, you know my Spanish is no good!”

And I stopped right there, well, of course he speaks Spanish, he is…oh. Right. Born in East L.A.

Not “white privilege” so much as a bit of beige dumfuk. Thanks, Cheech.

I’ve never gotten such a call. No one from the govt has ever called me and tried to give me money. Is there somewhere you sign up for this? Maybe just link me to one of these ads.

To be honest, I think that most likely these were scammers trying to get personal information so that they could steal your ID.
